To the OP - take the time to find out for yourself if you like the knives or not.

I research and solicit feedback to make sure the knife I am ready to buy is not a total piece of junk. I respect the knowledge base represented on this forum.

The Strider Knives company seems to be shrouded in controversy and politics. I've read way too many pages of posts over the years with people getting very passionate about what they like and don't like about them, and not all of it was really knife related.

As others have said - your best bet is to find a user for less than retail and carry/use the knife so you can formulate your own opinions. I owned a SnG and sold it - but only because I found it to be too small. The fit and finish on it was really good, and the blade was centered.

I recently picked up a new SmF with gunner grips and it was also very good out of the box. Fit and finish is impressive, and the blade is centered.

Are they overpriced - I cannot formulate an opinion on that. I do know that the equipment needed to make knives is very expensive, and the skills needed to make them are developed over years (if it was cheap and easy I bet most of the forum members would have their own line of knives - I know I would). Is a chunk of G10, titanium and S30V steel expensive - probably not. They are running a business, and if you take into account all of the bits and pieces that go into setting retail prices (materials, machinery, insurance (health, workmans comp, liability) rent, electricity, marketing, website, payroll, vendors, machinery maintenance, repairs - to name a few - I'm sure the price is reasonable. They are in business to make a profit.

If you get one, use it and post an unbiased review so everyone can add to their collective knowledge. If you have big hands - you may find that the SmF is better suited than the SnG.

Bought an SNG recently and it is my sole EDC right now. No rotation required. Fit and finish superb, without looking like jewellery. Rugged and lightweight. Yes they are a lot of money but just look at the pile of folders you own and add up how much money have you spent so far finding your "grail" without success.

Very true, just keep in mind that the ZT300 is a brick and the SnG is much lighter and cuts better too :)

Exactly.

My SmF CC is over 3 ounces lighter than a ZT 0301....

Just as strong, flatter, longer blade, easier to carry and better ergonomics.

I too was skeptical of the cost of a Stridr knife. I own quite a few ZT knives and at half the cost of a Strider. Once I purchased my Strider SMF CC , my eyes were opened to the greatness of the design and balance of the Strider knife. Strider is the real deal and not a collaboration knife that only gives a taste of the designer. I can now see the difference between a $250.00 knife and a $500.00 knife. Strider is worth the extra money to me. No one ever regrets buying the best if you can afford to.

I like mine. Have an SnG and a PT, both with the Lego G10. Although I must admit that while I think they are a great addition to my collection, I have other knives I prefer for EDC. I may wind up selling them someday, who knows. Maybe I'll trade for a ZT 0551, cause that's on the top of my list right now of "gotta have's". OP, if you have the cash, I'd say get a Strider. You want to scratch that itch of experiencing one, and then you can decide on your own.

Ah you noticed the differences.

There is always a difference and more than one, some you can't see and those are usually the most important ones. :)
