Hi, I am new to the forum. Started getting into pocket folding knifes about a year ago. The Strider knifes have caught my eye recently (SNG), only problem is I'm a lefty. Is the SNG available in a left handed model? I've looked and had zero luck finding one.

Welcome to the forums and the pain that is trying to find knives made for lefties. I don't believe that Strider makes left hand models. DPx and CRK are good high end models that offer lefty specific models. If you want something high quality and ambidextrous I really recommend Benchmades with the Axis lock. The other option is getting good with a drill press and tap. I can't tell you how many knives I've looked at and ogled only to change the picture and find that there are no left hand carry mounting holes for the pocket clip.

Strider has done batches of lefties in the past and they occasionally come up for sale in the aftermarket. Seems like the Dwyer Customs are now drilled for both sides too although you will pay a premium for them.

Fellow lefty here, I maintain a list of folders with 'wrong' hand variants:

1. Spyderco Left Handed Military (Discontinued in 2013)
2. Protech Left Handed Doru (I am selling one currently actually if anybody is interested: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1366649-LEFTY-User-ProTech-Doru-160)
3. Chris Reeve Left Handed Sebenza, Umnum, Inkosi, Mnandi
4. CRKT Left Handed M16 (Long discontinued but can still find some on the big auction site)
5. DPx Left Handed HEST 2.0
6. Emerson Left Handed (Mini)CQC-7
7. Emerson Left Handed Commander
8. Strider Left Handed SNG (Out of Production, rare)
9. Victorinox Trekker (unintentionally left handed)
10. Southern Grind Bad Monkey (Can find some on the big auction site at times)
11. Kershaw Mini Task
12. Benchmade 812S-LH Mini AFCK (Long Discontinued, Rare)
13. Benchmade 800S-LH AFCK (Long Discontinued, Rare)
14. Spyderco Left Handed Police
15. DPx Left Handed HEAT

Welcome B&B.

Thanks for the list chchin. Please add as necessary. I will keep track of it.

Thanks guys, glad to be a member. That DPx HEST is a sweet looking knife! So far Spyderco, Zero Tolerance, and Benchmade have been my brands of choice. I've been thinking about stepping up in price and the SNG is really appealing to me, wish left hand models were more readily available.

There may be a few strider lefties out there but they will be hard to track down. I'd look into a left handed sebenza, or start with a pair of lower end Knives until you figure out your likes and dislikes.
Best of luck, welcome to Bf.

Nice list up there. Don't forget the old spyderco police and dpx heat. Sadly, only the dpx is still in production. I would have purchased the hest if it wasn't for the damn roto-lock.

For the OP if you like a strider you can find some of the discontinued Buck / Strider collaborations, which has an ambi clip. The only issue is a fairly thin liner lock that you will have to make sure has a good lock up. Some of them had issues. The good news is buck has a great warranty service and will fix it, no questions asked.

Being a lefty also, I've adapted to right handed knives. All the Striders I have are RH. Holding the G10 against the palm and having the clip outward actually is not uncomfortable at all. Opening it left handed is no issue either. The only issue is if you use the pocket clip for carry. I usually have cargo pants and can clip to the cargo pocket or carry in the pocket.
I'd say get a used one from here, try it out and see. The last LH Strider I saw for sale was stupidly priced high.

Welcome to BFC!!!!!!! Good luck with your hunt

Bass&Blades, welcome to BladeForums and welcome to the struggle of being a lefty. I have a lefty CRK Umnumzaan in my pocket today and I absolutely love it. Plenty tough but also very nice looking and elegant in its own way. And just to say as a lefty, I think my biggest gripe with the knife world is simply not allowing for left handed carry. There are so many great looking models and configurations I'd love to try out but can't bring myself to pull the trigger simply because you can't move the pocket clip to left handed carry. It's such a bummer. The lock doesn't even have to be left handed for me anymore. I can handle just about all the different lock types (specifically liner and frame locks that are intentionally right handed) no problem. I just want to move the pocket clip. Ok, rant over. Welcome again, B&B.

Seems like I saw one (lefty SnG) not too long ago and the guy wanted $700 or so for it. Not sure what he actually got in the end though..

edit: just found the one I was thinking about and it actually started at $800 in mint condition..

$800 is way too high to pay for an SnG unless it was a custom, in some configuration that you were really happy with.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've looked at the Chris Reeve knives, they really don't do it for me. The large sebenza 21 insingo is the only one that peeks my interests right now. I like the SNG but would not be willing to spend $800.
