Then why did he say that?

He seems to have left the building. I would be curious as to the source of the information, as well, it has been awhile since I took any bio, and I only did a few first year courses, but it seems to me if you are jabbing a foot of odd shaped steel in someones back, I don't think you have to do some weird mechanics to achive a "fatal" wound.

Quite, there is a saying, which I feel is apt. 'After a certain point, all dangers are equal'

Wichhunter,

You beat me to it! I was just playing that game about 2hrs ago and remembered this thread! Interesting knife, and the game wasn't too bad either. I don't know about deanimation of the abdominal aorta, but the knife didn't work all that well against the larger alien things in the game! :D

Okay Stone Knife, being I was sitting with Mick Strider when he was given the design of the knife that needed to be made as a model for the game, I guess I don't know anything.....

The Tiger is a neat knife that as I stated before, "some" folks have found some real use for. It does have numerous qualities that make it "just the right" tool for some people, but it is one of the few Striders that I have never owned just because I am not one of the folks who would find much use for it. I would also not use the Tiger as an example of a great knife for someone in the military.

The FS that was the original basis for this post is actually a good skinner, and was designed as a hunters tool, and has actually won an award at one of the shows for its design.

Great thread, I have never been accused of being a Strider basher before, so that was a real first. :D

On an additional note: Strider has done many different knives that are not typical catalog items or sold to the masses. This includes mine probes and some specialized E.O.D. knives and shroud cutters for parachutists. I wouldn't bag to hard on the whole video game thing. Someone wanted it, and were willing to pay for the ride to build a beast like the Tiger in quantity. Should have Strider knives said "pound sand, we don't want your business". Most makers would love to get some interesting press on a piece of their work. Look at the grinds required on the Tiger, and it isn't exactly a walk in the park to grind these by hand in quantity.

Ummm, I emailed Strider and they said it was designed for a video game, in the email their was no mention of sentry removal or special ops using them.

That's odd. Did you keep a copy of that email? Who wrote it?

Okay wait!!!
The Tiger was adapted for, not designed for, a video game.
The first was made as a series of custom pieces for an individual whom you don't want to have anything to do with.
Its fun to play with. There is a lot of sickness involved in that thing.

Talk to you soon
Mick

Hi,

I was looking at the knives on your web site and had a question for the pros. Under Specialty Tools, you list the Tiger. What is this knife designed for? Thanks for the help.

Peter

Cougar is right on the money with the Mick post. The folks who requested the thing for the game had seen the original custom from the scary person Mick mentions. Again, not a "spec ops" unit, etc....but an individual.

As I also stated, there are "some folks" who have use for the thing, but for most they are just a neat collectable.

Kind of neat when we can all be right and just be friends :) .

I'd be very interested in what this supposed 'original' Tiger knife looks like, because if it's even vaguely similar to the one I see now, I very much doubt that anyone ever had a practical use for it, apart from standing in front of the mirror battling imaginary orcs!
