Hello, I am considering buying my first strider. I never really cared for the way they look but I want to try one, just to try to compare to my crk and hinderers. I do not know a lot about them other than I know I want an SNG lego flamed with either tiger or ghost stripes. I am very confused on all the different generations, so I just wanted to know what is the newest generation? How to tell by looking if that particular knife is the newest gen, and are the newest gens the best ones to get or should I look for an older one? Thanks a bunch guys!

Best way to tell the newest Gen is the blade tang. The older ones looked curved(concave) the newer (Gen 7) looks flat(though it actually does have a slight curvature to it).
I have no preference as to Gen from a functioning stand point, but getting the newest Gen is probably the best to do.
I believe prior to Gen 6 they did not have the lockbar stabilizer. Mine have all been 6or 7s
I find the SnG to make a great EDC.

The two SnG's I had were separated by about 7 years (a 2008 and then a 2015 model) and based on that, I totally recommend go for the current generation. It seems like a lot of the lock up issues that necessitated warranty visits in the past have been resolved with the most current generation.

There were some recently released flamed/striped SnGs and SMFs in PSF27 - I would jump on one of those if you can find any still in stock...
