Strider heat treat ?

I wasnt implying anything about strider knives or their in-house HT processes. All i meant to do was make the comment since the thread brought up the question of "if someone follows the same HT steps as a well know heat treater, their results should be exactly as good." If that were true, anyone off the street could read a steel spec sheet and HT as well as people who have 30 years of metalworking experience under their belts. its nice that you HT their custom blades for them, just interesting that they entrust those particular blades to you if their in-house HT is equally as proficient at HT as is suggested. not trying to stir the pot here. If this is somehow a path i shouldnt be going down, ill just edit my posts...i meant nothing by them other than an observation

As I stated it is a personal thing. It is not there inhouse H T The company that dose it used to be my commercial co. that I Ran for 20 years, The man that runs it is the son of my old partner, He grew up in the heat treat business and worked with me for 20 years. I gave him my procedure for heat treating Striders S-30-V. We tryed many diferent procedurs, tell we got the one they wanted to use. There are no secrets.I share my ways with any Knife Maker, or any knife co that wants to know. The important thing is having the right equempment and useing the correct time and tempreture. Paul.

as stated above Paul took his equiptment north. he has his trade mark,
if he wants to share his recipee for cooking steel that is his busness i share my recipee for chile but again i control the prep and cooking and if you do it it might be close but it is not mine....

and Paul controls his closely and it is his as he is not at the other location he is not superviseing that cooking... well they still send some limited stuff to him and they are not useing his trade mark are they...

hi all, perhaps it might make everyone feel better about the new strider heat treat if we see how the new ones perform. i recieved an sng from ryan at blue line gear not long ago and i have used it hard.i see no difference from the older bos stamped blades. same durable edge, same ease of sharpening.take it for what its worth this humble electrician uses this knife every day and it works the way it should. respectfully andy
