Just traded for a Buck Strider. Very stout knife, will start using it tomorrow. Thought I'd go ahead and put in another vote asking Buck to produce a spearpoint (MT style) Strider folder too.

Great knife, well done Buck and Strider!

Another voice raised here in support of a spear-point Strider.

I was looking at the Buck Strider to see if i wanted one, and then i saw this thread that you guys want a spearpoint version.

Well i have decided that i will get a Buck Strider spearpoint, IF it ever becomes a reality.

I understand everyones need or want for a spearpoint, Clip or whatever...Wouldnt mind having one myself!

But in favor of the Tanto, I really like this strider design with its chisel type point. I find it very useful in being able to use it to poke, scrape, pick jab...Whatever, and not have to worry about destroying the edge on it. It really is like having a chisel and knife in one.

I agree with Keith and I really like the tanto too! I finally see why the Strider tanto design is capable of prying, scraping, etc.

Great knife/tool!

I'd still rather fix dinner and skin a deer with a drop or spear point.

Well you didn't hear it from me but...
I have seen a few scaled down striders with Tanto and spear point. I also saw the drawings of several proposed spear point styles to be used on the regular Strider.
Their in the works as we speak. No news on targeted introduction dates though.

A "backhanded compliment" for you: Over on the Busse forum, folks are chattering about the eagerly awaited Busse folder. One said, "Will it be like a Buck Strider? That's the toughest folder on the market." When you hear "nuclear tough" Busse fans saying that about *another* knife, it must be tough.

PS: I'll watch for a spearpoint, too.

Lane,

Thanks for that! I'll take it as a compliment, backhanded or not. The guys in engineering will appreciate it too.

Take care,

Geez Joe!

That's another Buck knife that I'll have to buy. A Strider Buck folder with spear-point blade? Sounds great! Hmmm...BG-42 for the first 500 again?

Dave,
Again, you did not hear it from me but...
The plans are to:
1)Offer the existing Strider with a drop point/spear point blade.
2)Offer a smaller folder in BOTH a tanto and drop/spear blade.
3)Offer a fixed bladed Strider.
Thats a total of 5 Striders and yes, the plans are to make the first 500 in BG-42 steel!
Start saving yur pennies!

Yes. A drop or spearpoint blade would be great. I haven't bought one because of the current blade shape.

$28.75?! I think the G-10 handles cost us more than that! I don't know how they can sell them for that price but i would buy all i could for $28.75.

One based on the MT here would be awesome:

Finally, FINALLY! I actually get to see something early!!! Timonium show this weekend, at the Strider table, I saw 2 of the 3 types mentioned above, all stamped Buck, Bos (with flame logo), and BG42.

And Dennis, I could SWEAR that the spear/drop point is based exactly on the MT.

Joe, forgive me if this is out of line. And feel free to delete and chastise me accordingly. But, I just can't contain myself. That spearpoint Strider (both small and large size) is just plain AWESOME!!!
