From the thumb studs and the pivots, it's a folder. But no frame lock ? Did Strider decide to make a liner lock ? I always thought frame locks are better.

Enjoy the pic !

That's definitely interesting, i too am curious if its a liner lock with 2 Ti handle slabs.

As to framelocks being better than liner locks, I would have to partially disagree with that. Yes, generally, a well made FL will be more reliable than a liner lock because the framelocks arent as vulnerable to accidental disengagement when gripped tightly, but, i certainly have seen many liner locks that were designed well enough that this isn't an issue with them either. And, in fact, i actually prefer the AR/GB liner lock design to the SnG/MARSOC/XXL NM etc framelocks. The fact is, the framelocks do not offer any more strength than the liner locks because both are heavily relieved at the base of the lock, reduced basically to the same thickness, so, for all practical purposes, the locks are very similar in thickness, even if the framelocks lock face is thicker. However, i believe that geometry/angles are far more important than sheer thickness, so i look to the angles, specifically how bent to the right the lock is, i believe that the less bent it is, the stronger the lock since in theory, the best, strongest lock would be completely straight and have no bend and thus no tendency to bow under pressure, so, seems to me, the straighter the lock, the better, and i find that the AR/GB's have a straighter relationship between the lock and the blade tang. Not always though, some AR locks engage further to the right than others, but on an AR lock that engages the tang just barely, its a pretty straight angle between it and the tang, most of the Strider framelocks I have seen tend to engage the tang more fully, further to the right and are thus more angled, and IMO, weaker.

Of course these are just my thoughts and i certainly accept the fact that i could be mistaken, if somebody disagrees, id very much be interested in discussing it since im something of a fanatic when it comes to properly made liner and framelocks. :)

Wowee! That is one seriously bad assed knife! Those are some absolutely sick grinds on that thing.:D

That one is a Nightmare GB with titanium scales, hence a liner lock, not a frame lock

Strider has been making liner locks from the start of the AR/GB series.

lol.. you do understand there is a certain collector value that goes along with a knife like that. You could buy it, use it every day for a year, then send it in to be refurbished and probably sell it for the same amount you purchased it for.

Not bad if you got the bucks to spend.

That has some cool looking grids, pretty wicked blade....but at $1,200 dollars I think I'll go for a Springfield M-1A rifle and be wicked cool at a 1,000 yards:)

At $1200, what grunt can afford that knife? Must be designed for the officer corps.

At $1200, it wasn't really meant to be used. It is for the hardcore Strider collectors.

Amen to that! :D

I agree this is strictly a collectors knife, if youre into Striders. And, as was said, it should hold its value well IF Mick continues to limit the number of these NM customs he makes, he charges the prices he does and gets them only because he makes so few, if he starts to make too many, people won't be as willing to pay what is essentially a big premium for rarity and collectability.

I actually think he has made too many recently, and the proof is that one of them sat for a while in the other forum at list price and did not sell, back when he made very few, it would have been bought in about 2 seconds, probably for even more than list, I hope he's careful in how he continues to make these and market them. If he does start to make a lot of them, he will have to drop the price quite a bit, and overall, i think it'll very much hurt the overall collectability and appeal of his folders.

WOW is all I can say must be a TANK.
Most likely not a "user"

$1200.00 buck sounds steep but you try making one then tell me what its worth.

Overall I would take my $350.00 AR folder thats been beat and USED over it.

Very nice knife though. I hope to handle one at the NY Custom Knife show in November if there are any on the table that is.

I agree with Megalobyte its the rareness (SP?) of the knife that can command that price. If the market is flooded with them then the price will drop.

Me personally $350.00 was a ton of money for my AR folder and it was hard to justify but now that I have one I would not be without my Strider AR.

I have two striders inbound at the moment.
The sng should be here tomorrow in time to take to the Riddle.

The MCMARSOC is on order and deliveraable when made available.

SNG-400.00
Marsoc-565.00

SNG will be the user, the other a collector of value to me as it is involved with the Marine spec ops.

I'm a jarhead from long ago. I'll always support my brothers in the field which this knife does in an indirect way.

Where do you get that cool case?

Yeah, I want one too! Even though I only have a "Buck-Strider"! Anyway, where can I get the single zippered pouches like this, even without the logo? They look great for just one knife...
Strider exclusive? I ain't spending $1200 for a pouch!! wow...$1200.

I thought the whole goal of Strider knives was for "hard-use". A collector knife doesn't seem to fit in that line of thinking...oh well. Just my opinion, I guess. They do serial number their knives, too. People freak when I tell the how much my ARC LSH costs...its all relative!

I believe you can get em from Strider dealers at $15 per piece. You could try Matt D, or Vinnie P. Search the forums for their email addys - I think it's listed somewhere.
