Strider knife..........cool pic content !

The grinds on this knife are what's the "nightmare".

I guess you're saying that the grinds are uneven, and so they are, but, thats not quite true in a sense since on one side, an extra grind is added, making the 2 sides appear uneven, and this extra grind was originally done as a weight saving feature according to MS, and subsequently became known as the NM channel. But i do think it's very funny that you named the picture the Hellen Keller grind. :)

When i got my first NM knife an SLCC, i immediately was very disturbed about this, i had not heard anything about an extra grind or the "NM channel" so i thought my knife was very poorly ground, but, once you realize that extra grind is intentional, and mentally remove it, youll see the grinds are really actually pretty even.

I think the grinds look pretty damn good.

Strider knives does produce practical blades for hard use. This however is one of Mick's custom pieces and is stamped M. Strider not just Strider. This grind will never be mass produced as Mick has stated himself that these are for fun and not intended to be practical. All things considered $1200 is not out of line at all with what the market will bear for a sole authored custom piece from a maker as popular as this. Yes you can buy a hell of a nice rifle for that price but that is a pointless comparison. There are many people that would rather have this knife than a rifle. Not to mention the fact that knives like this generally hold their value better than guns. YMMV.

If the grinds are intended to be this way than I'l rescind my dig, I personally would rather have the added weight than to have my grinds look that far off, but then again most striders are not the knife for me anyway (although I have owned them before).

You like the Hellen Keller reference huh... LOL I came up with that one myself... :D ;)

MOLEXEY, I would argue with the guns losing more money than knives - I have been heavily involved in both for a long time and see them as being very similar. Only guns in mint condition have a tendancy to go up in value a little faster if they are higher quality.

I personally tend to spend more on knives than I do guns because knives are something I can use in every day life and guns are not, but everyone sees value in different ways. A buddy of mine hunts small game with a raced out Ruger 10/22 and carrys a little Buck he got at Wal Mart for $11.

Trust Megalobyte if the grind is there its for a reason.

Who knows stab someone with it and you may be enlightened as to why its ground that way?

Could be for a better reason than lightening or NM Channel.

Maybe a new type of blood groove????

Sound nasty doesn't it!

If and this is a BIG IF! I had $1200.00 to spend I would get an another GB and an SNG and have some left over for ammo for my current guns.

If I was a collector of knives that $1200 might go the the Strider NM GB!

These are big IF'S

however a gun or knife if used just once to save your life is worth every penny you spent for it even if it is a custom built match 1911 .45 for $5,000 or a Strider NM GB for $1200.00

But here is the kicker use that knife or gun in a "my lifes in danger I have to kill this person encounter" and its BYE BYE to the knife or gun as evidence. No matter if its a SAK or a Strider.

"Why trust your life to a hundred dollar knife?"

You resurrected a thread from October 2003 to make a minor comment  Who were you responding to?

And an incorrect one. The Strider in the OP is a liner lock.

Not a frame lock, but a sweet knife for sure.

not $1200 sweet, but sweet none the less.
