Heres the link : http://www.striderknives.com/html/main.html

does anybody have any comments thank you

the strider tiger is not really a practical knife for anything... it's mainly for show, as far as i can tell.

get a strider EBT, EBS, SA, or MFS.

also, join the army instead.

I like the knive it looks like it could come into good use + i dont really know if iam goin to join so I will wait till i get the Buck Strider 890Tx

uh.. out of all the great strider knives, the tiger is the LAST knife in the strider linup I'd buy.. unless I was making a zombie movie.

why would it be the last knife u would buy from strider. Even though iam goin into the navy it would be nice to have that along with my buck strider 890 tx

I think the knife was actually designed for a video game.
It is a novelty piece.

Join whatever branch of the military you like, don't listen to anyone here if they tell you differently.

No matter what branch you join, you wouldn't need a silly fantasy knife like the tiger, but a midsized sturdy utility blade and/or a folder. maybe a Multitool.

And whatever branch of service you join, do not take any sort of knife to bootcamp. You won't be allowed to keep it.

The Drill Instructors/Drill Seargents/etc. (Den Mothers? -what are they called in the Air Force?;) ) will either have you box'em up and send it home anyway, or will end up in their desk.

And if you do go in the Navy, don't take anything nice on a ship. Those bastages are all thieves, running around on their poopdecks, acting like pirates!

I'm not him, but I'm going to guess it's because he prefers functional knives. The one pictured looks cool--if you're into that kind of thing, but doesn't strike me as particularly useful. I can't imagine any time and place I could use that thing w/o freaking out everbody around me. It's certainly over-kill for opening packaging of any kind. Doesn't look handy for slicing-up food. I doubt it would do well for gutting wild game. Doesn't look handy for woods/wilderness use. The first thing that came to mind when I saw the picture was the character "Bennett" in Schwarzenegger's "Commando" ;).

But it's your money and your knife collection.

The Buck/Strider 888 Solution would also be an excellent choice with a 4.75" ATS-34 blade. Very practical drop point blade.

i think it might be more dangerous psychologically than as a tool or weapon, but it does look cool ;) Myself, I would probably get something mean looking from szabo, scary and quite functional

Spend a while here, scary looking will be replaced by functional in your collection. If you like Striders, get an SMF or SNG for the boat, and a PT for at home. Good luck in the Navy, and go for the good stuff.

will they let you have that in bootcamp?? well anyways to answer your question Id rather have a strider knife that I could actually USE everday - like an sng, or smf, or db, or ar, or bt-ss, or mtl, or....
the tiger knife is only good at chopping up watermelons AND its expensive!!!!

The Tiger's for slitting throats.

It looks more like it's for fantasizing about slitting throats than actually slitting throats. :p Can anyone imagine actually trying to slit somebody's throat with that? Or cut anything, really? You'd have do decide which part of the knife you were going to use, and hope it doesn't hang up on one of the prongs or points.

BITCH! :p

Hey REAPER join whatever service makes you happy. Research all the jobs available and make an educated decision on that. In the end it isn't who you served with, but the fact that you served. It takes a man to give of himself selflessly, but remember we are all brothers on the inside so you will never be alone. That is much more than can be said about some people who play armchair quarterback about military service.
On another note, get the Tiger if you like it, but don't expect it to do much more than look cool. The Buck Striders are cool, but they are nothing like the real Strider folders. I have had quite a few and have brought mine to Iraq where they did thier job well. Right now you are happy with the Buck and are making your comparison off of that, but rest assured you will be blown away by a real Strider. There are few knives out there that can match one. Oh, lastly don't take any knife to basic training. You don't need it there. After that you can have all the fun you want with your knives.

"I think the knife was actually designed for a video game."

No, it wasn't, and it's amazing how that rumor persists, or it is the same guy posting this in every Tiger thread I see.

The Tiger has a specific one-use design that has nothing to do with Hollywood or video games. You should call them and ask. I'd have you PM me but I don't have that level of membership.

At any rate, if you already knew what it was for you might have a 'need' for one, and if you don't know- then you don't need one.

The Tiger's for slitting throats...

This is completely incorrect. The Tiger is designed in fact to avoid making that cut, which makes a lot of noise and results in a slow slow struggling demise. It's amazing how many so-called knife people know so little about their combat use, yet they like to go on as though they do. No wonder so few actual operators participate in these discussions!
