I saw a post ovr on another forum, the Candle power forums and they mentioned that Strider Knives was in trouble and they would be releasing this info around Blade. is this true, is the company going under?

Lately it seems like every thread with the word "Strider" in it turns into TGB&U material, but maybe this one will be different.

I just wanted to know before I bought one, as They say in there warranty that they will uphold it as long as they are around. But at $400 a knife they have to be making some killer profits.

I dug around on Candlepowerforums and found the post making that statement.

The person who made the statement heard the information from a friend attending blade, and posted it as fact. Second hand information isn't admissible in court, anything statement not directly from the source (or, from more than one reliable source) can't be attributed to anything more than a rumor.

It helps to substantiate information before accepting a rumor as fact.

well I knew it was a rumor, but I thought if one person knew it then maybe others would to.

If it is true that the information was officially released at Blade, it will be all over the forums tomorrow. Have a nice night!

You know how rumors start ...

Ah Ha! Now Striders will be collector items!
I smell a marketing ploy!!!

they're releasing / just some new models (Badlands SMF for eg) so I really doubt it. They're very profitable, so why would they fold?

As long as there are people willing to drop that kind of money on a knife they will be open and it seems like there are plenty. Not me but to each his own. It just sounds like gossip to me.

I sure hope not! There isn't a better knife out there than a Strider at any price! bash me if you must! :D

To clarify, I saw one poster complain about the lanyard hole and having to pay return shipping, and that the unidentified "Customer Rep" was less than friendly and "admitted" it was a flaw. The lanyard hole was addressed by showing pictures of an alternate way to loop paracord through one side only to prevent the blade cutting through. That didn't satisfy him, and IIRC, he planned on giving away his entire collection.

Since then the poster has reported rumors from a Blade show attendee, with no direct quotes or attribution, that Mr. Strider was not doing well, and then, that the company was not doing well. Well, it's Blade, and makers with other agendas are there, too, with their fans. Think about it.

Is this an axe to grind situation because the maker didn't follow his precise expectations and "correct" their design for free, and with free shipping? For a non defect custom alteration?

Spoiled brat, I say.

And yes, the jihadists brought up a tired off thread topic, but the moderator firmly directed the thread stay on topic. Now it's drifting again . . .

tirod3, I think you got it right.
