I have had my SMF for about 7 months now and am already having a decent amount of lock rock unless I squeeze the frame lock more into place after opening the knife. I have used the knife for what I would consider more than average use for a folder (some chopping, light prying, ect). The main thing I wanted to ask about was Strider's customer service, will they fix the lock-up if I send in the knife? Also I was wondering if anyone here knows if Strider will ship to New York City, right now I'm in Vermont but I will be in New York for the summer so I want to make sure they will be able to return my knife to me if I send it in, if not I'll just wait until after the summer.

Thanks

They will fix your knife. The warranty is for the LIFE of the KNIFE. You will be happy. They will likely put in a larger-diameter stop pin in the blade which will remove the lock-rock. Their Customer Service is the best that I've ever found, but it is NOT what I consider rapid turn-around. You might want to wait a bit.
I think you will be very happy with their Customer Service. I know that I am.

I will second what Sonnydaze said. They will fix it no questions asked. As a side note, if you don't want them to put a larger diameter stop pin on it tell them in your note. That's what I did and they were able to do it and make the lock up extremely early. They have other tricks up their sleeve for fixing lock rock besides the larger stop pin (I think it looks bad). Remember, do not ship to them via USPS. Use fed ex or ups and insure the package.

I would wait until after blade show, they will fix your knife up and get it back to you for 15 bucks, as long as you haven't modded the knife, My spanner tool chewed up the pivot on one of my striders pretty good, It was my goof up, I sent josh an email and he said send it in with 15 bucks for return shipping and theyll fix it right up for me, but with blade show coming up I'm going to wait until they get back from the show and have time to settle back in before i send them anything, They are a small company, and If you sent it now, I doubt you would get it back before the blade show anyways, you might but if the knife is still functioning I would wait, I've heard of a lot of striders getting lock rock, but have yet to here of one failing. And as others have said DO NOT USE USPS strider HATES USPS and your knife my never make it to the shop if you us them, they prefer fed ex, but will accept UPS too. Just email Josh about your concerns with shipping to NY his emails are josh@striderknives.com or josh.striderknives@gmail.com I would email the gmail account, That's the one he responded to my emails with...

They hate USPS because A lot of knives have claimed to be delivered to their shop and never showed up and would end up being at the post office, So an employee would haft to leave the shop and go pick up the knife, and from what I understand the post office is a pretty decent drive for them, SO instead of having an employee working on knives in the shop, they were out driving to the post office to pick up knives that the USPS had claimed had already been delivered, this happened over and over again until finally they just said please us ups or fedex, they say you can us USPS now i believe but that they are gonna charge you a fee if they haft to go to P.O. and haft to pick up your knife, or it might not be a fee it might be that they won't make a special trip to get your knife, that they will go the p.o. when they need to and if your knifes there then they will get it when they need to go. Not really sure what the deal is if you ship USPS and the knife gets stuck at the post office, I just know that they ask that you ship UPS or fedex , and with basically a no questions asked , yea we'll fix it warranty, that follows the knife not the original owner, IMO that's not too much to ask for for the warranty they provide on their knives.

There have also been reports of people having their knives stolen. It is suspected that there is a thief working at the San Marcos post office.

Thanks guys, I emailed Josh about shipping to New York. What do they do to fix the lock-up if I tell them not to replace the blade stops? I agree the larger blade stops don't look great so I am interested in getting it fixed a different way.

Strider customer service was excellent. I shipped a sj75 to them it returned in a week with the same problem. But I emailed mick about it, he had me send it in and he would personally fix it. Ended up getting a brand new lock side and he also gave me a choice in g10 scale color. And refunded me my shipping money. Knife came back perfect that time.

Johnnytoxin-do you know how they made your lockup early and solid without an oversized stop pin? Only thing I could think of is a new framelock side or a new blade. And to whomever said to ship with $15? It says $25 on there website for the return shipping so where did you guys come up with the $15? I checked rates online from wi to strider and it's about $25 with insurance. I to am having lockrock on my smf that's why I ask. $50 round trip seems a little steep though especially for my broke a$$ right after Christmas. But then again to have my who knows how old $550 knife restored to like new it's a pretty fair deal to me.

This is pretty much the unanimous view from what I can tell. I will say they handled all of my questions (did not need to send the knife in) fairly quickly (e.g. 24-48 hr response to email.)
