I've been jonesin for a tanto of late and have been looking at the Striders. Probable the SMF with the flat grind tanto if I could find one.

What do you guys think of Striders in general? On another forum they seem to be well regarded and do no come up for sake very often.

I had two SnG's and nothing struck me as "fantastic" about them for the price hence why I sold them. They are "hard use" knives with good reliability. If you are looking for uber smooth action and such I'd look elswhere. This is just my opinion and threads like this usually require a big bag of popcorn.

Really? You've been on these boards since 2002 and have over 1000 posts and you haven't seen any threads on Strider here?
(not trying to be a jerk)

I Edc a Rw-1 Tanto grind it would be hard to break this knife. Alot of guys around here don't care for Striders but to each his own i guess.
I find the more i use it the smoother it gets and yes its built like a tank centered blade and all.
Good luck on your quest.

I'm not trying to stir up trouble, but I thought I could get more objectivity on Blade Forums because the fanboys are on that other forum.

D762nato, the RW-1 looks like a great knife. Glad you've had good luck with yours.

Plenty of fanboys over there, but plenty of haters here. If you want to find out, buy one used from a reputable seller and try it out. Don't like it? Sell it and only lose the cost of shipping. Or get a new one and lose a couple bucks.

Personally, I like them a lot and have yet to be disappointed and I agree that the definitely get smoother with use.

There are a ton of threads on the interwebs, here included, but none of them are going to tell you what you're actually going to think about them until you handle one.

They're only going to say one of two things:

OMG their awesommmmmmmmmeszzzzzz and the Strider crew rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

or

They overpriced and Mick is an ass.

I'm w/ the first :D.

Strider is a common word around here! I own five striders. 2 PT's, 2 SnG's, and a SJ-75! I think generally they are a very well made knife! I ve always thought they are kinda overpriced! But people including myself pay their prices so why would they lower them! Love the knives! Especially the SJ!! Beauty!! What i dont like is the things i hear about the strider boys lying about their service to my country.

The SJ is one of the nicest knives I've ever had the pleasure of owning. And the ergos are insane.

Probably the wrong place to ask about striders but I am a huge fan! I own 8 of their folders and love them, the sj75 at the top I that list. I highly recommend trying it for yourself as just like everything else it's not for every one.

There were a lot of animated discussions on Strider a while ago. A search should yield a wealth of feedback.

I'm not an "expert", just a regular consumer.
And my take is that Strider's time has come and gone, and the new ZT Hinderer designs are going to take over that market.
They had their time at the top, and now time is moving on.
Just my 2 cents as a knife buyer.

I'm confused about those who think the action on Striders is not smooth or potentially smooth - honestly, of my four current Striders, each may be some of the best opening action I have. There are other areas that one can complain about with Striders but in my experience with up to five Striders, the action has never been an issue.

This... Four Striders here. SMF CC-hybrid S110V, SnG S30V, SnG S110V, PT S30v. Great ergos, contrary to what you might think from a picture. All smooth, all centered, all lock up fine, all grinds even, all edges sharp, right out of the b-, err, bag. Bargains? Nope. Worth the price? Yup.

I don't think ZT's production capacity is anywhere near enough for any of their designs to take over the demand for Striders.

The same things will be said.

1. I like the knives.
2. I like the knives, and Mickey ray Burger may have been a felon bu he served his time, and it doesn't bother me a bit that he lied about his military service and used his lies to sell knives.
3. F&*# Strider, he's a shameless honor stealing son of a b**&^ and I only wish that he had the balls to come clean and apologize.

I'll let you guess what group I'm in.

I like the folders, and I like the fixed blade karambits.
I dislike every other fixed blade they produce.

At first I thought the were pretty smooth but (just for comparison sake) it is years behind how smooth a Les George VECP is.

For me theres that connection when you hold a knife and it speaks to you. The conceal carry SNG does that for me.

I don't see anything special about them. For CRK prices you aren't getting anything near CRK precision, and I don't see anything about the design that justifies the price. I could get over the fact that Mick Strider is a convicted felon for armed robbery if he really had turned his life around as some people claim he has. But he falsely claimed to be a war veteran after serving his sentence so he could sell more knives. It seems pretty apparent that he's a scumbag and isn't changing anytime soon.
