Strider PT CC - clone or just horribad etching?

Recently picked up a second hand Strider PT CC from an upstanding strider-holic on IG. Upon further inspection, I noticed the etching on this particular knife is down right horrible...not what I'm used to seeing in a strider, or one that I've seen at least. Makes me wonder if it's a clone? Thoughts?

Lock up and close and detent is definitely strider-like - most of you should know what I mean

I don't have answers but I can share this pic of my SnG.

Welcome. What's IG? I only assume another party in a knife deal is upstanding if the deal goes down here. Maybe the folks at IG can clarify.

And does doing a deal on IG help support BF...where you came and asked about the deal?

My secondhand PT CC (with a custom clip added!) also has really faint etching:

It was sold to me by Blade Forums user rneiman3, who is an upstanding user, and judging from all the factors (having compared it with other SNG CCs, and having handled Strider Clones), I have no doubt whatsoever that it's genuine.

So I think yours isn't a clone.

Also check out this Everyday Commentary review (his has faint etching too): http://www.everydaycommentary.com/2013/07/strider-pt-cc-review.html. Also, this Knife Art photo of one: http://ep.yimg.com/ay/knifeart/strider-pt-cc-black-tactical-folding-knife-3.jpg

I'm assuming it's Instagram. There's a pretty big knife community-trading presence on there.

Ah! Instagram. Thank you. Seems like Instagram might be the place to ask about Instagram.

Why are you being rude? All he's asking is whether the faint logo etching on his knife is a red flag, i.e., whether it's indicative of clone. See my post above for why it probably isn't.

You're probably right. Im sure the OP is not the kind of person to come here to use BF just to get some info on a knife he bought someplace else and then split.

My apologies to all involved.

And why would it be a problem if he did? Sorry I have to ask - is there some minimum requirement for an individual's contribution level here?

First, I wouldn't blame him for splitting when in response to a good question he gets replies such as yours.

Second, you have no idea what kind of person he is, whether he'll continue to post here, etc. So by your rules, your first post on a knife forum can't be a question? Or is it just not allowed be a certain kind of question? Should I have been booed out of here because my first post was asking for a recommendation on a knife? Or banished from the Usual Suspect Network because my first post was about where to get a custom clip made?

Third, so what if he comes here, asks one question, then splits? Why not still help him out? Answering his question also answers the questions of regular members here who see the thread, or those find it with the search function in the future.

Thanks Brancron.

I too know what you mean about having no doubt this one is genuine, based on the feel- and having 3 other striders. Two of which I've bought privately from users here (which I'm sure would make one of the persons in this thread jump for joy) and one new. Just wanted to make sure there isn't some clones floating around that none have seen yet, and if so- this being the tell tell sign.

I've owned one Strider, an SnG, and have handled a few. All of them had the steel listed on the blade with "USA" underneath. I'm no expert, just something I noticed. Instagram may have a large knife community, but I still wouldn't trust it to buy a knife.
