Well I just got a Strider PT CC and here are my initial impressions.

First off CC stands for concealed carry. It has no pocket clip but a good sized lanyard hole( previous owner removed the lanyard) and it is slimmer and more rounded with smooth g10 on one side and flamed ti on the other.

I like the ergos and overall look of it. It provides a very secure grip. I prefer to not use the choil and just grip the g10 And ti portion of the handle with out touching the choil because it's more comfortable for me and gives me more reach. The style is very modern tactical looking but small enough that it's not intimidating to use in front of people.

I got it in a trade but it still has the factory edge which is very sharp(easily shaves hairs) so sharpness is first rate. It still seems pretty tough eventhough it's thinner than the regular PT. I wouldn't hesitate to cut some thick coax or a zip tie if I had to. I think I got a pretty good deal too.

The Pivot action is pretty rough to say the least but I took it appart, cleaned it, lubed it and adjusted the pivot so it's a little easier now. when taking it appart I noticed the nice overbuilt pivot. It's the thickest pivot screw that I've seen. Definitely designed for hard use.

Fit and finish is also a little rough with the off center blade and what look like gaps on the surface between the G10 and ti. That being said these things don't bother me because I didn't get a Strider for perfect f&f I have CRKs for that and I probably won't send it in either.

Lockup is rock solid with about 70% engagement.

All and all I'm pleased with this knife and I will be posting pictures and adding to this review in a little bit.

Nice review.

I bought a new one and after a few days i was as smooth as a Sebenza. The f&f on mine is great, blade centered perfect, no play at all. Mine did'nt come with a lanyard.

I'm glad to hear that. I'm thinking I might send it since hearing how good yours is mine is hopefully not the norm.

I also noticed the detent ball is scraping the blade too.

I'm not sure what you mean by scraping. The detent is supposed to meet the side of the tang. Its one of the reasons an intregal lock is smooth. If your's is'nt smooth and you feel or hear scraping than maybe the detent bearing is'nt where it should be. Is it holding the blade in correctly? Mine is very strong.

It's holding the blade in great but it has dug into the coating of the blade. I'm guessing it may be sticking out to far but I'm not sure.

Well after what you said I called and left A message at Strider. I figured I'd call this tune because they haven't responded to my email sent four days ago. It's mindboggling to me that one Pt is as smooth as a Sebenza and the PT I got is without a doubt the roughest most hard to open pivot action I've ever experienced and I've had many cheap knives.

I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about Strider's fit & finish so I didn't think too much of it. But you saying how good yours is made me realize just how bad mine is. Maybe the old Strider having bad QC stuff isn't a myth afterall. Well thanks I guess I'll end up with a better PT after they fix or replace this one.

Just so you know, you need to break in a Strider, they are all rough to open the first few hundred or so times, and then smooth out perfect.

jeffzerot is right. I had to open & close my PT CC a few hundred times before it became smooth. The intregal lock was also sticking. I rubbed a pencil (graphite) on the back of the tang and no more sticking lock. If you just got it try breaking it in for a few days.
BTW I also got a Strider SNG and it was rough as can be. I spent a few days breaking it in and its almost as smooth as the PT CC. I like the CC model a lot better than the regular SNG. I'm sorry I did'nt get the SNG CC.

I will try opening and closing it a lot after I retighten the pivot screw. It was hurting my thumb but I will just deal with it. Thanks.

I was cutting sone cardboard boxes and I realized a couple things. First the lockbar was moving further accross the tang but it wasn't staying there. It would go to about 80-90% and then go right back to 70%. I'm not sure how to describe it. Jiggling maybe.

Second it has the best HT of any S30V I've tried and would still shave hair after 5 boxes. Granted I had to use more pressure than when it was new but it still would shave. Most S30V I've tried won't shave after 1 box.

I just got my first Strider in a trade too (thanks Zeke ) and I was impressed with the overall quality of the piece. Its a DGG SNG stonewashed.

I have always heard stories of iffy QC so I was a bit nervous, but I put my trust in a BF bro and as usual I was not disappointed.

I must say I was impressed with the edge... to me a knife is all about the edge and nothing is more disappointing to me than a dull edge from the factory.

The only thing I find odd is the lack of a box of some kind. I really feel a nice box adds to the experience of owning the knife and I find it strange that they cant put such a nicely made knife in a suitable package.

But that's just me....:D

Update. I sent it in over a month ago. 8 emails and 2 phonecalls later I got a response saying that they have my knife it's not repaired yet and they will need $15 to return it. Still waiting to hear back on what form of payment they will accept.

I will let you guys know how it is when they return it.

I love reading these Strider reviews and I love the pics ! I probably have over a hundred different Strider model pics from the last couple of years and one day when I got the extra dough I will buy one , even used I would feel comfortable.
Saying that is a lot for me since I am hopelessly addicted to flippers and have zero interest ( aside from the odd Slipjoint ) in any other style of knife.
However seeing you post about having a knife gone for a month for some RnR with nary a response from the maker gives me some concern.
Maybe it's because of the holidays ?
