Strider PT vs. Sebenza

Well I've been looking for a good solid folder. The two that i have come down to are the strider pt or a small sebenza. They will be used mostly for edc, weekly bush walks, several camping trips mainly in winter and spring. Things get pretty dusty down here in Aus so i would like it to be easy to clean. I would prefer if it had easy customer service and returns because i hear stories of people sending their knives in from Aus to the USA and receiving them back a year later. I would prefer if the knife waas in perfect condition because it really is a PITA to return things for repairs.
And please dont let this turn into a huge argument of Mick's morals and past, i couldn't care less if he tried to dominate the world. His folders look good! I tried reading through other threads about the Strider vs the sebenza but was lost in a 13pg thread which had about 11pgs of people bitching about each other.
So...

O boy, Here we go AGAIN???

I know you mean well, but................................

I own a sebenza and have handled the PT... you can't go wrong with either to be honest. I personally prefer the sebenza, as the hollow ground blade slices better, and the lack of a backspacer means dust and fuzz falls through the handle rather than collecting in it.

I've only handled the small sebenza. It's smooth, but stiffer than I like. It's a very good size though, and everyone can attest to the build quality. With that said, I LOVE the aesthetic design of the Strider PT. It's shorter, but wider. Between the two, I'd personally get the Strider PT, but that's mostly for style/design preferences. Like stormshadow said, both are good choices.

Oh, also, if I were to spend that much (my budget won't allow it tho), I'd personally get a Matsuoka Pahinui...but again, that's because I love the design.

I'm always going to come down on the side of the Sebenza, but the PT won't let you down, either. The Sebenza is actually tougher than many people think, comparing it to the Striders, especially since Strider worries less about esthetics.

Both will give you the best in customer service. Both are easy enough to clean but the smoother finish of the Sebenza might shed that dust better.

either will serve you well. It has been awhile since I handled a small Seb but its a small knife that will do jobs a small knife shouldnt be able to do.

One of my every day users is a PT , even though I usually carry and AR as well , that lil PT gets a lot of use , it is just a handy size , as is the small Seb.

I dont think you will be disappointed in either.

Both are good knives, but I personally think that the blade on the PT is too thick considering its size. If I had to choose, I'd get the small Sebenza.

since both sides of the sebenza is titanium does it heat up quickly/ a lot when left in the sun.

Why would you leave it in the sun and for how long? The titanium slabs are a dull gray and fairly thick, not exactly a problem, I'd guess.

well often with camp chores or just sitting around the tents ill just let it sit by me, this could range from 10mins to often about 1hr.

I have a Smith & Wesson SWAT tactical Titanium coated folder.
If you lost it you could buy 20 more for the same price as the other two ;)

I have changed how I answer these threads 180 degrees. I used to reply about how the sebenza is superior, but I think now that if a person asks, they'd be happier with a PT.

Just have whoever you buy it from absolutely double and triple check it before they send it. You'll also need to buy or make a tool to adjust the pivot tension. If you get a sebenza it should be checked too by the dealer, don't accept non smooth pivot action or a dull blade.

Both knives would experience sun heating, the PT probably more due to the black g_10 scales, but the Ti would transfer the heat to you hand better.

I owned a PT, I think a sebenza is much easier to take apart and clean up, see this thread about a sebenza lost 25 days in the snow:

no special tool just a torx bit for my strider pt to adjust the pivot,i think the piece on the g10 side is just a thread stud for the pivot pin, also looks like screw driver will work if it does do anything-

in all honesty-i would rather buy a alias2 ,camillus dominator, zdp mini cyclone ect ect and save some money- or spend a few more dollars for a custom

I have owned a PT, and it was a tough little knife.
I currently own a Small Sebbie, that I like very much too. You really can't go wrong with either knife. I would like to get another PT some time.

I've owned both as well and currently only own the Small Sebenza, but I think the PT had a better feel in my hand. I'd probably pick the PT, but just barely.

living in Vegas where it tends to get warm in the summer ( 115 in August ) , I have never found any knife , Sebby , SnG , PT or any other , pick up enuff heat to make it uncomfortable to hold/use....course my hands could be immune to it from grinding blades. ;)

Both are great knives and I've had a couple of each. I still carry a small Sebenza though because it's a little larger and sits lower in the pocket. I also like the pivot bushing and pocket clip on the Sebenza. Quality wise my two PTs were excellent as have been all the Sebenzas I've ever had and I don't think you could be dissapointed by either. I like the Sebenza best though.

the finger spot on the blade allows a real good control and grip with the pt-

I purchased a small sebenza new recently. I had the same dilemma... I regret my choice. Go Strider.

Anyone's clip on their Strider come a bit loose after time? It only has one screw and that hook that hooks into the frame, but I could see the clip loosening a bit and letting some swivel play after a while.
