Strider PT vs. Sebenza

I have both and like to carry the PT more because it is slightly smaller, lighter and easier to open with one hand. The sebenza is very nice, sturdy and is definitely a keeper.

CRK makes some of the best knives on the planet. If you want a solid, no-frills cutting tool, then the sebbie can't be beat. It really does lock up solid.

I have both and they are great folders. Both very strong and sharp, the PT is more of a utility piece, the Seb covers both utility and gentlemans carry. Try them both out before you buy if you can, they are great knives.

unfortunately i can't try either one. But from the pics i really seem to like the finger choil. A design i've grown to love on my subcom. I don't really mind if it looks more elegant or not, for i am only 19. Some of the issues that worry me are the pivot pin and clip. I have heard that the pivot constantly comes loose and the clip is'nt strong. Is this a common problem? Also what screwdriver is needed to tighten the pivot.

p.s. Sorry if i don't seem to reply - different time zones.

I have a couple of Sebs and a SMF. Right now, without a doubt, I prefer the Sebs (the Strider is such a monster that it doesn't seem to belong in the civilian world).

When I was a soldier, the Strider would have been my choice, hands down. I suffered through countless deployments with the crappy knives that were available in the 80's and 90's in the PX and usually left them in the sand when the deployment was over.

Bottom line is: buy what you want. There are several places that you can go to handle knives from both makers and if you begin to regret your choice, you can always find someone to trade with on BF! Win Win situation.

Good luck.

Yeh the SnG and SMF are far too huge for me, thats why i prefer the PT. I also think that the tiger stripes seem far to tactical for me. I can't try them out cause im in Australia.

Anyone's clip on their Strider come a bit loose after time? It only has one screw and that hook that hooks into the frame, but I could see the clip loosening a bit and letting some swivel play after a while.

For the little bit of time I had my PT, the clip was solid. Same goes for the two other Striders I had. The Seb only has one screw as well, though.

Related to the comment about the Striders being less-aimed towards gentleman's carry, it also seems like the Sebbie is a bit more of a timeless piece as well. I hate to use the word "trendy" to describe the PT's design, but I can't think of a better description when comparing the two designs. The Seb just seems a bit more likely to be passed down because of its less aggressive looks.
