Strider PT?

I used to have a pile of Strider folders years ago, and they slowly slipped away in trades etc. Most recently the flame rekindled itself and I was able to acquire an old skool SMF and new production SNG. Glad to be able to put a couple back into the fold.

Been reading up a bit on the PT model. Seems like it would be a a nice one to acquire when dressed in slacks or shorts (touch smaller and lighter weight). I have never handled one or seen any in person. Just curious if anyone had any helpful, or first hand experience with one. Thanks in advance for your input.

It is the smallest of that line . They changed the blade shape over time. I liked the earlier better than the newer. Earlier avaiable in pt with a clip or cc without. Like all the line you loose significant blade edge to the choil.
Nice little knife, but i prefer others to it, like the 3" Hinderer non flipper, small Sebenza or Steenkamp Swift- but that is just me
I often only prefer one model of a maker and for Strider it would be the SnG - earlier again. Though I don't own any at this time.

I may try and find one to see how she feels in the hand and pocket. SNG (since acquiring another one) has gone with me everywhere-really liking that one. I am a Hinderer fan, but don't currently have any of their stuff. I do appreciate the info.

Obviously, you know him personally. Share the details and specifics please.

Opinions of the dude aside

If you're into smaller knives it's pretty comfortable in hand, but like you I went from an SnG to a PT and I could never warm up to it. Was hoping for just a shorter blade and handle but its shunk down in blade/ handle hight too. I couldn't get used to how close my thumb and index finger where while trying to grip it and went back to the SnG.

Best of luck finding one and that it works out for you

I have watched a few videos trying to get perspective on how it sits in the hand as far as size, but still hard to tell without wielding one myself. The SNG is about the perfect folder as I have ever carried or used, really like that model. Discovered the PT and was just curious. If I can't find a PT to handle before purchasing, may just grab another SNG and call it good. Thanks for sharing your perspective and experience.

I love the ergos of the PT had a few strider in trades but being a lefty I had to go with something else. I got a Dpx which do make a very good knife but they are thicker and beefy carried it for years. I ended up with reeve inkosi, one of the best all around knives and great in the pocket.

I don’t have any striders, not because of a boycott but just because I really don’t need any more ti framelock folders. LG, CRK and Hinderer fill my pockets enough. I would probably buy a pt with the bowie blade if I ever came across one for a good price.

If all the stuff about Mick is true than I generally agree with not supporting him but I wouldn’t be opposed to buying the pt on the secondary cause the $ isn’t going in his pocket.

I just wish there was as much fervent disgust and boycotting of knives around here that are made in a certain country that for some reason can not be named. 😉

True that. I found a smoking deal on PT with Persian blade, but it got snagged before I could get a good look at it. I have owned a few different Hinderers and 1 CRK small Sebenza, both of which are quality cutlery for certain. Not sure what it is, but something about Strider folders just resonates with me. IMO Half of the fun of collecting or gathering anything is "the hunt" if you will. I'll keep looking and see what shakes out. I appreciate your response.

I hear ya bro! I’ve been doing some serious hunting the last 2 years for my LGs. The hunt is definitely a big part of the fun. Good luck with your search!!

I agree on the last part. Just to clarify it's not IF that stuff is true. The documentation is in the post Kevin made, that I linked to. It's fact.

I am a southpaw as well, I just carry 2 knives, one for each pocket 😉 Preciate you providing your experiences.

I have a number of PTs, including Strider and Pro-Strider models. With a 2.75” blade length, it’s quite small. Sometimes that is a good thing. I actually find the Pro-Strider PT Plus to be just about the perfect size. Even more so than the SnG since the butt of the knife on these Strider designs is large.

Just curious if anyone had any helpful, first hand, or experience with one.
I handled some years ago at Tad Gear and wasn’t impressed. They all (4 or 5 examples) had blade play and the actions weren’t consistent between knives. A couple also had off-center blades if that’s important to you. Oh, and then I found out that the owner of the company was flirting with stolen valor and that made it VERY easy to pass on Strider (McBurger) knives. Ended up with a ZT instead. Check out the Spyderco Shaman for a higher quality knife with similar characteristics…
