I have seriously been contemplating getting a Strider SNG in the very near future... such an awesome knife from what I've read here. I've never owned a ti frame lock. Anyways, I was looking at the blade length .... is 3.5 in. the cutting edge length or the cutting edge plus choil. I'm into bigger folders (hence my millie, bm 710 & 800, Emerson commander, cs voyager ) I know this is a smaller blade than the others but I'm fine as long as 3.5 is the cutting edge. Do I need to get the SMF?

You want a SMF. Or even better a SMF CC. The SMF CC carries very lite and is about as good as Strider gets.

The SMF is not 3.5 inches of cutting length either. If that is paramount to you then I don't think the Strider Folders will be your best bet. I love mine but they don't have very long cutting edges (which I'm fine with).

+1 on above. I have both and the SMF CC is premium. I've grown really fond of the choil even though it reduces the actual cutting edge.

You could always get the Strider Smf Xl a little more money and blade lengh i believe.

I have both SnG and SMF, the SMF does not have that much more of a cutting length over the SnG. But the handle seems to be much bigger.

I like bigger knives too, but the smaller SnG fits my hand better, if I had to pick one , I'd keep the SnG.

Thanks everyone, your input has been more than helpful ... even though I will lose blade length ( compared to what I'm used to ) I still plan on a Strider ... probably the SNG

Agree, and I have pretty big hands, too. YMMV, but I think the ergos on the SnG are just about perfect.
