Strider Questions

I guess the fact that "over there" is going through maintenance wouldn't have any impact on the admin's ability to respond to your urgent e-mails....? The rest of your quote was really out of line...:thumbdn:

Matthew

Unless over there has been down for maintenance for a month I don’t think that is the case, also the emails were not urgent. All in all the only thing I am really missing out on is some good deals on used knives.

I am also not the one that locked a thread out of respect for foreign members(no it wasn’t your Tony)

Cliffr, You know it would be far mor merciful for yourself if you just take in a breath and click the "order button" :p

I got the SnG a year ago, I thought "that's alot of money for a freekin knife" a year later I still have the knife and I managed just fine without the money.
It disproportionally is in my EDC rotation.

One thing really is goofy though. I don't know if you know this, but if you elect to use the lanyard hole, you will cut through the lanyard after closing the knife a few times...in excusable for a $400.00ish knife.

I still think it's cool though and I'm glad to have it.

Rick

Loop your lanyard through either the Ti side or the G10 side, not both. Now you won't cut your lanyard. Works for me!:D

Are there production SnG Gen6's and/or SmF Gen2's made with just a beadblasted blade finish or are they all either tigerstriped or otherwise graphically finished? I've been searching everywhere and can't seem to find a plain finished blade.

hey, if it's just a plain beadblast you're after, you can get an SNG and send it back to strider with a request for a BB.

that's what i did with my gen5 SNG. i don't much care for tigerstripes/flamestripes.

heres a pic of my blasted sng, among the rest of my EDC stuff.

Wow, ya can tell when a group is enthusiastic about a brand of knife! Must mean something. All the suggestions are really helpful. I've read threads devoted to strictly that topic ricOshay, but no matter, lanyards aren't really my thing-that's why most folders come with clips. Hey Midget, what did Strider get ya for to beadblast those knives? They look good like that. I actually don't mind the flame-striping on the frame, just can't stand the blade. Someone mentioned that I can order directly from Strider w/o the blade coating, but it'll probably be more money. Anyone have any idea on wait times directly from strider? I know that there are some semi-production/custom shops where you could grow old waiting. Thanks for the info/suggestions fellas.

??

if you mean how much did it cost, it was free less shipping and handling.

just send your sng in with a check for 15 bucks or so and a note saying what you need.

as for turn around time, strider is generally extremely good. almost every time i've sent a knife back to them, they've gotten it back to me within a window of 2 weeks.

when you pay 400 for a strider, you're not just paying for the knife, you're paying for the service. the strider guys work pretty hard to accomodate your needs. in fact, i'd say everyone should be sending their knives back to strider at minimum 1-2x/year, because they offer free sharpening, free refinishing, and will tuneup your knife back to 100%.

Wow, that's pretty cool that they'll basically do mod's for free-I guess they should for 4 bills. Midget, I was referring to the wait time on a knife if ordered directly from strider, but thanks for the turn-around time on service answer, I'll take all the info I can get. A knife like this constitutes an investment on my part, so I like to minimize the possibility that I'll regret pulling the trigger on a purchase, be it new or used, since I'll probably sell other knives to buy one. I really appreciate all the help guys, thanks.

you will have a hard time ordering directly from strider.

you can order an SNG from a plethora of dealers--all of them will sport pretty much the same price.

try:

plazacutlery.com
truenorthknives.com

there's no guarantee you won't regret this purchase, and the 400 dollar mark is a pretty steep plunge to take. however, this is definately a quality knife that many people swear by. if you don't like it, it's generally not too difficult to resell it for a good percentage of what you put in.
