I've read some posts saying that Strider folders suffer from blade play. I'm thinking of getting one but I'm worried. Anybody have one? Have Strider solved this problem yet? Please give me informations. thanks

where did you read that they're prone to blade play? normally they lock-up like a tank. my friend had an SMF that developed a bit of play, but he took it apart, re-greased it, screwed it all back together and voila, smooth as butter and centered and zero blade play.

My AR has a liner lock, and I have NEVER experienced any blade play. It is an edc that is sitting in my right front pants pocket as I this and has always had the tightest lockup of any of my knives.

I had one, I sold it, I did not like the shape of the handle or how the checkering on the handles wanted to stick in my pocket. I sold it. I really liked the blade shape though. There were no issues with blade play or quality, I much prefer the SnG for EDC.

i agree for edc the SnG isd tops w/the SmF @#2.

i have had probably 8-10 striders thru the yrs and not a one had any lock probs, dont know where ya heard that from but thats simply not true, SKI doesnt have any probs in that regard to solve imho.

Only time I've seen a side play on a Strider folder is when the pivot's loose. You might need to get a spanner if your that worried about it.

either unlucky or had a bone to pick with mick strider maybe......??

its simply incorrect to imply striders have a known lock problem, oh any brand folder can have lock probs but its a rare thing for SKI, they just dont have probs in that regard.

Now I've heard it all! If anything, Strider folders are known for their rock-solid lockup and NO blade play.
Gotta love the disinformation put out on the internet!:jerkit:

All of the frame or liner lock Strider folders I've handled open to a solid, no wobble, no slip lock-up. In my experience I've found that the lock-up stays solid even after a lot of openings and usage.

Both my SnGs are bank vaults..............:D

I don't think you will have any wiggle with their liner locks either. ;)

The liners on my AR are approx. .105" thick so you end up with a virtual framelock when it is open. I like to tinker with my knives a bit and gave the liner a hair more bend than what it had. This resulted in a spring that you have to push over with your thumb, as it isn't going to move over by itself in normal use.

I have a regular RCC and an RCC GG. Both have been 100% in every way. No blade play, excellent fit and finish, locks up like a vault and carries very well.

I've had ten or so Strider folders (PT's, SnG's, SMF and GB), two or three of which didn't have any blade play. The rest did. I still sort of like them though. I have four DDC RCC in the mail heading my way, ETA tomorrow and the day after.

The RCC is not the same animal as the SnG/SMF or AR/GB. It has a normal sized liner, and is definitely more of a casual carry knife than the others. But I never had any blade play either.

I got both mine used, but my smf and sng both had slight play unless the pivot was tightened beyond what I like. And I don't perticularly mind a tight pivot. I never sent them in for it though, as I still had 100% faith in the locks. I handled the rcc once and was surprised by the thickness of the handle.
