strider rcc folder question

I also want to throw out there that I've never needed a spanner wrench to adjust the pivot of my striders. Just a bit for the male side. -Maybe I'm missing something?

I never had any issues my any of the SNG's, AR's or GB's that I had. I just had one issue with a PT, but Strider took great care of me.

I have had no problem with my SnG. Citing an 18 month old post is a bit misleading - things change.

Bladeplay is an interesting discussion that has been posted on before. My take is, just exactly what constitutes bladeplay - the human eye can discern .001" movement, and you need some clearance to open the thing. Others believe that no discernable play will be tolerated whatsoever.

In an age where overbuilt knives with extreme capabilities are reinvented daily, there sure would be a lot of disappointed people if they had to go back to brass bolsters and a .188 pin. I see a knife as a tool, and some tolerance for operation is really no problem. If it actually caused lock failure, I'd be agreeable it's defective. Otherwise, it's really just preference.

Only fixed blades can guarantee no blade play, and even then you can cause tang failure.

My SnG locks up with the loudest snap and the bar holds in tight. No play, any direction. The knife was fresh off the Strider table, though

First off, I consider myself as a strider fan. But, I have/have had, benchmades, and spydercos, microtechs, missions, sebenzas, and emersons that all locked without "any" noticable blade play felt whatsoever. The striders I've had both had blade play. -Far more than an average knife. -It's as simple as that. And my strider locked with the loudest snap of any of them also. -That is meaningless to me.
Additionally, I had to send back an sng due to the stop pin falling out. (After I mistrusted another guy saying his did the same thing.) I had had the blade blasted locally, so that may have been an issue involved. (Doubt it though) They fixed the pin, and I paid shipping, and it still had play. Those are my factual experiences involving strider.

That would have been me.
And besides from the stop pin falling out, the knife had quite a lot of bladeplay.

I finally decided to fix things myself instead of sending it back overseas, as i did not want to loose this expensive knife to some overzealous customs official.
I fixed the bladeplay with a little bending and made a new stop pin, and now the SNG is part of my EDC routine.

My final opinion in this matter is that Strider folders are very well designed working knives, but the people who build them could learn a thing or two about quality control from the guys at Chris Reeves Knives.
