Saw this at a local pawn shop, next to a Buck Kalinga. Price was a bit high ($419), but they let me barter a good bit. It has the Bos heat treat stamp, which immediately threw me off. I'm wondering if it's a fake. Pic with my Esee Izula is for size comparison.

Strider is a well proven fake. As for the folder in the pic. . . ?

Pretty much as fake as they come.

Can you image how pissed someone is going to be at $400 worth of fake!

Here is a picture off the fake website:

Did you buy it?

I did not. I would like some strong evidence to bring to the store so they can pull it and be prevented from buying fakes in the future. Most of the shops around here give me some pretty good deals and I try to alert them to fakes and factory seconds.

also the clip on it looks bogus as hell. I own an SMF and am no longer a fan of strider as I don't find as much use for the knife as I thought I would. But the dagger grind doesn't exist on production, the clip looks extremely fake, I don't believe production does chamfered edges on the Ti side, the lockbar is far to squared off on its design, and the DGG textured G10 is all kinds of wrong in that it's not aggressive enough and looks wrong in shape/pattern.

There are buck made striders that are significantly cheaper than the real striders.
The BOS stamp is what led me to believe it might be a Buck strider. (usa made)
EDIt: Nevermind, it should still have said Buck/strider on it. sorry.

It's a Chinese knock-off. The locking side is stainless steel, not titanium. The blade steel is probably something cheap like 5CrMoV. They tend to run $15-20+ around the web.

Just saying.

It should read as "they allow me to barter with them on a general basis not having to do with the knife in question." Just good shop owners who often cut me a break.

Ah. Gotcha. I hate stories that hint at interesting turns and intrigue but the poster leaves these things out. What's the point of a good story if not the little details of life, like bartering down to a certain price, almost walking away and winning in the end, etc.?

The reason to watch a sports game isn't to know the final score, but to see the fouls, the close calls, the missed opportunities, etc. Same with stories.

Zero

the real DGG Strider will have the pattern milled into the titanium side....that's giveaway #1
Giveaway #2 would be having a small magnet in your pocket to see if the lockside is metal or Ti
Giveaway #3 is that stupid looking swedge on the top

That attempted bayonet swedge is the giveaway to me. Looks fake. Doesn't have the Strider look.

Again, it's not real. The lack of a Hinderer Lock Bar Stabilizer is an instant giveaway that it is a knockoff Strider.

This same knife can be easily found all over that world famous auction site. You know, if you want to do a quick comparison..

While I'm not a specialist I opted for fake.
It is interesting to value such pieces.
It's kind of testing ones knife-knowledge.
That is from behind a screen, it would be different if you are on the hunt for such a piece.
To sum it up it is sad that such things happen.
