Strider: Real or Fake

Sickening, all these fake Striders, Spydercos, and countless others. Attention to detail is a must. If you look at the handle screw closest to the pivot, on the lock side, the bottom of the screw looks almost "peened", whereas real quality screws always look "dished" on the bottom. Eventually the fakes will catch up with grinds and patterns, but so far the hardware and fine detailed machining is usually a giveaway. FAKE.

Coolio, this is one of the cheaper Strider fakes on the market. There are numerous others that are of higher quality, and that look much closer to a real Strider SnG or SmF. Those knives are generally higher in price (typically closer to $75 - $100+) than these garden-variety, stainless steel handled, sub-$20 knockoffs.

Better steel too, or just better appearance?

Both. But, then again we are talking about fakes knives here.

None of these are going to match the quality of a real, US-made Strider folder. ;)

I've honestly never seen the appeal at all. Maybe I've never held one, but I just don't get it. I can see Sebenzas, I can understand customs, but the appeal of striders never made sense to me. I find them uglier than spyderco designs, way more expensive to boot, same steel in most cases, and... maybe they're better from prying from what I hear? But I either have pry tools or a fixed blade when I pry, so...
