Strider Slipjoint

I like it.

Mind you that is not surprising since I own six Striders now. Pretty cool that Mick makes these new and different knives.

I have always liked Mick's damascus since it is so unique and is not super busy looking.

Any idea what the OAL and BL are on this one?

Interesting design.
The blade edge is lower than the "kick".
Actually it seems there is no "kick".
So how does the edge not hit the back spring?

Are we sure it is a slip joint and not a friction folder? No need worry about the back spring if it is a friction folder.

Someone asked why do something like this? In this day and age, where our elected "representatives" are looking for any reason to ban something, why not do something like this. Good R&D for something that may happen down the road.

Or, it was just something he wanted to make! When what you enjoy doing for a living becomes work, you occasionally have to go and find what you enjoyed doing.

What a strange knife.

I personally don't "get" it, but I couldn't afford it anyways.

Is this supposed to be "tactical"? Being a Strider and looking the way it does I'm guessing that was the intent. Maybe I'm wrong for assuming that. A non-locking tactical looking folder would make little sense to me. Although, my Spyderco UKPK has somewhat of a tactical look to it and it does not lock. This knife has me a little confused and questioning the reasons why I do or or do not like it. I definitely do not like the blade shape. I might have had a very different initial opinion of this knife had the blade shape been more to my liking.

Like it or not.....it's different and worthy of healthy discussion.

You guys DO realize how big that thing is right? (I can't remember the exact size, but that blade is way larger than 4")

Looks like a combat Laguiole on steroids. I wonder how many sentries you can take out with it.

Could that be the prototype for the knife law changes coming with the Obamasiah after he starts in on the guns and ammo and knife crime goes up? No, surely not, just a project for fun I'm sure. It is unique and although impractical to a large extent I'd bet it would sell very well.

I'd buy one if its got a back spring but I doubt I could find financing for it. Maybe thats the new "UK Strider" or something? :D

That was my first thought.

No offense to Strider fans, Mick makes excellent quality knives, but this is the first thing Ive seen from him that I really liked the design .

It's something I like the design of.

If it is a slippy, it is strange that designing such results in one of the very few Strider designs I like.

You got to be kidding me , now we need a reason for a knife ? With all the abstract stuff being made ( and bought ) , the only reason any knife gets made is cause the maker wants to.

That's one of the things I admire about Mick , he makes what he wants ( including his own damascus ).

+1:rolleyes:
