Strider SNG CC question

My wife surprised me this afternoon with an SNG CC (something I've always wanted and keep blathering about ) from Monkey Depot. Everything is spot-on with regards to F&F, smooth action and solid lock-up.....except the blade is significantly pulled to the right when closed. Is this something I should be worried about? Pick up a spanner tool from Paul at PSD products and try to tighten the pivot a hair more? Or just leave it alone, as it seems to work just fine? Thanks for your time forum members!

The pivot needs about 1/8th of a turn and it should be centered perfectly. You can use a T15 on the back (turn it with your fingers) while pressing your finger against the side that has the spanner. This should tighten it up enough.
Congrats, it's a great knife.

Thanks for the reply...but my finger is unable to hold the spanner side still while turning the other, just rotates with it....guess I need the specialized tool?

Really not a "huge" deal to me...seems more like an aesthetic defect rather than a functional one (though I don't know much about this particular issue).

I second that. If my wife finally got around to purchasing a sweet knife like that for me, I would not care if the tip was missing LOL!

I wouldn't send it in just for that. Costs too much, about $30 to ship it insured both ways. You can try playing with the pivot a little and see if you can bring it back to center. If you want to send it in, then I suggest waiting till it gets dull and let them sharpen and fix the off center blade.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll pick up a spanner tool from Paul and see if I can make a small adjustment without breaking the lock-tight.

If it really bothers you, I say Monkey Depot should be open to making your order right by replacing the knife and covering shipping costs to do so.

(shrugs shoulders) Your probably right, with my luck I'd fiddle with the pivot and $@$% something up. Thanks for the advice :thumbup:

Mine came new with few flaws out of the box- the pivot screw was loose, the blade stop was loose and the washers were somewhat rusted.

So I fixed everything and the knife is 100% centered,

The knife is smooth with 100% solid lock-up. (Strider on bottom):

So, in my case I decided to deal with the issues myself. Obviously, it's up to you to decide on what you want to do. I just saying that this is not that difficult to make the knife right w/o sending it back to spa

Let me know how the PSD tool works. What is the difference between it and the Strider tool?

you can make a tool by grinding an old hacksaw blade, worked for me. but on a new knife, I'd send it back.

Mine (SnG DGG) came about as off centered as yours and has remained that way for over a year of carry and use. Lock up has settled and remained at 60% after the first two weeks. Once in a while I'll stick the small flat head screwdriver from my LM Kick in the hex side of the pivot and rotate it back so the lines of the -O- shape on the other side line up with one of the dimples. I use that same reference point and it seems to be the sweet spot for the smoothest action on mine. Even though these knives cost a lot there isn't any knife law written that blades should be dead center upon arrival. I would (and do) just use it.
