Strider SNG CC

Hey everyone,
Thanks for watching my video. I'm sorry I couldn't reply earlier. I was out deer hunting (successfully). :) I posed a question in the video about the pivot pin being sunk into G10. The G10 on my particular knife is <1mm thick at points around where the pivot pin is sunk. Does this make any difference to anyone or am I just crazy for wondering how strong that is? I really don't know what to make of that. Everything else about the knife seems like it can stand abuse. The blade design is great, the frame lock seems fairly strong and the pivot pin is a beast. I'm still left pondering just how strong a piece of G10 that is <1 mm thick can be. It doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me, but maybe I'm crazy.

It's strong enough that you won't break it unless you are trying too.

And the G10 thickness on the CC model, if not mention in this thread yet, is typically thinner than the Ti side. The stop pins do not contact the G10 side. Lockup strength is strictly in the lockbar and Ti slab itself. A beefy pivot helps to that end a little bit too. All my CC models, SNG and SMF, are that way.

Nice knife you have there :) Carry it well!

I would never do to my crks what I do to my striders. You really have to beat the strider up to appreciate it. Yeah there grainy when you first get them and need to be used and opened a bunch for it to smooth out. And yes the fit and finish isn’t as swank as a crk. but I wouldn’t call it less than a hard use knife. I’ve done all kinds of no,no’s with my older SNG, put it through steel, opened cans, prying with it etc etc and the worst I could do to it was chip it. I just sharpened it at that point. They really shine when you treat them badly and use them hard. Even the tiger strips take on some cool looks through use :) I own some crk, hinderer etc etc. They all preform well at different things. My SNG is my beater though and what I grab if there’s something nasty to do.

Having never held either knife, but just looking at them, I agree with you that the sebenza is a better edc knife that will do any reasonable task you ask of it than the CC version; though I think the stranded version is a much stronger knife and falls into the hard use category. But for me, half the reason I am saving for a strider, rather than a sebenza (though that is on my grail list) is that if I buy a strider, and do something monumentally stupid to it (hard use) and break it, I return it to them and they return a working knife. CRK's are very strong knives and I want several and and I'm sure they could do everything I would ask of them, but if i am going to spend 400 dollars on my first midtech, I want a guaranty that i will always have a functional knife, and that my kids will have. Just a humble opinion, from a guy never having held either knife.

Good review. Some valid points, and good presentation.
Albeit I am perplexed as to why you got the CC version if you wanted hard use. Logic should tell you, if it's thin, and light it can't be as strong and robust as at thicker/bigger knife no matter what the marketing crap says.

The SnG is one of the best folder designs, period. Just look at the design.
I have a GG and a Lego and I prefer the latter.

Hi Jumpin Jimmy.

It's radiused like the grips on a 1911. The thickest point should be about the same as a Lego. The lock bar cut out is the same thickness on all 3 models.
