Strider SNG Has Landed!

Krav- Make sure you get said knives in your hand. I had a DGG but it's only Lego for me when it comes to SnG's.

Hmm, I don't think that will be possible for me, no one I know of carries high end knive in n.c.
Maybe your right, I should go with the Lego then, I keep watching videos of the 2 comparing, but it's not the same as having one in my hand.

I didn't like my DGG SnG but I'm yet to try the Lego or CC. One day I'm sure. For me it's an 'alignment' issue. When I have the funds in Paypal it seems they don't pop up on the exchange...then when they are on the exchange it seems I've spent some or all of my Paypal funds. Silly rabbit! :sly:

I traded my DGG for a CC and have not regretted it. The CC retains the great carry, feels a little more solid and is not a pocket shredder! The Gunner grips do look cool fore sure.

I also received a SnG from TNK and was really excited to receive it. Unfortunately, the frame lock is way to0 "sticky". I talked to Neil at TNK and he was great. Said essentially that it needed break in. The frame lock continued to be sticky, but i kept trying. This morning I flipped it open (not extremely hard) and the frame lock was stuck. Couldn't close the blade. I needed to use a spyderco to leverage it back open. Also, I noticed that the blade filled up 1/2 the lanyard hole. If I put a lynard in it would be cut by the knife. Not good. I've had 100's of knives some expensive and some not. I know that this isn't right. I reached out to Neil at TNK again today and he said no problem return it. Neil is a great guy. Anyway, I'm returning it today. I think I'll give up on Striders for a while, but will give all the business I can to TNK!

My SMF was sticky at first, but with about 6 applications of pencil lead on the contact area of the blade's base (where the lock bar sets) it was freed up nicely. I've had others take 100's of open- close apply the lead cycles before they freed up. In fact i don't think it's a bad thing if a ti frame lock sticks a bit at first, because the ones i have and I've used the pencil lead on, have never reverted to sticking after they freed and they are to this day my tightest locking frame lockers.

Let the knife break in on it's own.
Re: The lanyard hole... the lanyard goes through just one of the holes. ;)

What makes you prefer the Lego more?

The squared handles are more comfortable to use and work better with gloves. Downside is that Lego doesn't carry as well as DGG,CC for me. I'll be getting another Lego in the future.

This^ and the SnG design is thin already. A perfect thin. The DGG and the CC just felt too thin for "me."

Can anyone w/ multiple Striders give insight between the flat grind and 3/4 grind?

The flat grind cuts better. The tip on the 3/4 is thicker than the tip on a Junglas. The 3/4 would be better if you plan on prying, but even then it will break if you pry hard enough.

I have a strider lego flat grind coyote brown, new lock up in mint condition getting processed now, I think it's being delayed because of the holidays. I got it for the same price of a pt. Can't wait, thanks for all your help.

Hey all!

As an update the Strider and I are still on our honeymoon! LOL! I took her up to River's Edge Cutlery in Columbus, OH and had her sharpened to hair shaving by Brad (GREAT dude!). We had to tighten some of the handle hex nuts in the handle as they were very loose and he tightened up the pivot a bit for me. It's a great knife and I love it!

So with all of that said, what's the best Strider tool for the most reasonable price? I'm more looking for something that's specifically designed for the Strider bull pivot as I don't want to mar it up at all.

Thanks!
David

Get a spanner-tool, David.
Enjoy one of the best folders out there.

Good to here- but I thought you bailed on it? Change your mind?

Congrats McSoappy! You've clearly got great taste :D

I also grabbed an SnG from TNK and it arrived today too!

One day, perhaps......
Until then, I'll just have to drool over your Strider ;)

rpn - yeah I decided to give it a bit longer and think it was a good decision. There's something about it.
