Strider SNG vs. Large Sebenza 21

Thi
As a matter of fact... That is, FACT: I have seen several pictures of broken Striders.

The pictures I saw of that involved one guy using a SmF as a jack handle (STUPID!!!), and another guy using a SnG stuck in the top of a doorframe as a handle to do a chin-up (STUPID!!!).
Don't be monumentally stupid with your knives, and either one will do fine.:)

This thread is full of PERSONAL OPINIONS. It is absolutely not a fact that one is tougher than the other. There are zero tests to prove it. There are ideas and speculations and that's it. Personally I would assume that a Sebs blade is sturdier because:
1. It's heat treat is one point softer on the Rockwell scale.
2. There's not a big hole cut out of it.
3. It does not have honkin' cut outs for jimping.
As a matter of fact... That is, FACT: I have seen several pictures of broken Striders. I have seen zero pics of broken Sebenzas.

Personally I consider my Sebs to be my overall "best" knives. But the SnG is my favorite knife.

You see broken Striders because people use them hard and some try to break them. Sebenzas are babied, hard use for a Sebanza is cutting fiberglass reinforced tape.

That's an untrue assertion as well.

And I've seen MANY Striders with nary a scratch, so I don't buy into the "We're hard-core users yo" hype either.

They're both good, expensive knives, of which a few actually get used.

There both great knives but very different from each other. You really need to get both in your hands. Then decide for yourself.

Thanks for the pics and response. I think I am going to get an SNG-CC. I will reprofile it to a thin edge so it will slice a little better. I will get a sebenza at blade show maybe so I can see if I like it. I will probably buy one before then though:-)

I own both, but they are apples and oranges. For general EDC, the Sebbie. For rough work, perhaps carpentry or out in the woods, I'd take the Sng.

Obligatory both. You'll always wonder about the other one regardless so flip a coin now. If it makes any difference the sebenza gave me more of a oh holy crap feeling than my lego SNG did when I first received them.

It would be nice if you can tell me what you know and what are your questions that haven't been answered. You know they are two very different animals and are perfectly designed for their mission.

By any chance are ypu selling any of those sabenzas? I know this is a very old thread but if ypu are im looking to buy one second hand.

I know this has been asked tons of times but I can't find any good answers. I like the simplicity of the sebenza and the toughness of the strider. I like a slicer but I know an sng won't be the best at that. How is the SNG at slicing? Also, how does the new SNG compare to te sebenza in smoothness. How does the SNG carry in the pocket compared to the sebenza? Try to talk me into buying one or the other for EDC use. Pictures would be nice. thanks
I know this is an old thread bit look at the harsey folder it's the perfect combo of sabenza and strider.
