I've got both an SNG that's had some custom work done to it, and a standard SMF, that I've recently acquired. Yes, they are a little blocky, but honestly, that works for me. I find that their design provides a very sure grip in any method, from fencing to reverse and everything in between, and it is, as they so frequently advertise, pretty easy to operate even with gloves on. Which model you choose is up to your personal size preference (and budget), as the SMF feels significanly larger in your hand (and wallet), and it's spine is just a bit thicker. They're both pretty bomb proof, and if you somehow manage to jack one up, it isn't like Strider won't have your back on it. Personally I'm biased a bit toward carrying the SMF, as I'm one of those "in case of emergency" kind of guys, but I feel like most people seem to prefer the SNG for every-day purposes. You probably won't regret purchasing any of the models (though the gunner grip may very well eat through a few of your pockets...), but the best option, I must confess, is to find a way to put one in your hand before you purchase it. Gun and knife shows are a good place to do this. Unfortunately, I understand how hard they can be to come by in any forum other than the internet, so sometimes this isn't so easy to accomplish. In any event, they have my vote. I love my SNG, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to you. But then I'm sure there are plenty of blokes on here who'd tell you they're overpriced and overrated. Your call.
Be advised, they do have a bit of a "break-in" period. Search the term "Strider thumb."
Really (no offense intended, of course) you could just search this topic, as it's been discussed a million times on here, but hey, I always appreciate an opportunity to chime in
