Here I have a 2005 Idaho stamped Strider, OD scales, Blade appears to have been black originaly, no grip pads on blade, no serrations...I went to the BCCI site and looked at both the 2005 and 2006 catalogs, but didn't see this model listed?

Got it for a song, and it had been used and put away...well, it was totally encrusted in what appears to have been fish scales, blood, and other organic matter:eek:

4 hours work to get it to this state...409/detergent/bleach soak...and scrubbed inside and out with wire brushes...
action now nice and smooth again with solid lockup and no blade play...

Any info would be greatly apreciated, and thanx for looking...

Its not a tarani is it? Green handled 882 is what it looks like. I have several taranis and they all say tarani on the blade. Looks like a very nice user. I really like mine.

That's kind of an odd knife.......should have a model number or Tarani or something on it.

Maybe there was some info etched on it that came off with the black blade coating.......or, they just forgot that.

Nice knife for a song, anyhow.

:)

Its a 882 riveted tac com handle. Im not a expert by no means. The taranis i have have g10 handles and torx screw construction. They also have the textured pads on the blades. I have the exact same knife in the box. If i can tonight i will post pics.

It is an oddity BG, as the other pics I had found had a model # like :SB4 or SB1 STAMPED into the tang...not so on this one...

That is odd that theres no stamp under the idaho. Ill have to look at my green handle model now. The tarani thats in my pocket now has sb.4 on it.

I just checked both of my green handle striders. Both say sb.4. Now the odd thing.. neither one of mine has a date code on them.

Yes 882 models. They dont say tarani on them. Looks just like yours except mine has no date codes at all. Let me see if i can post a pic from my phone

I just picked up one of these; it was listed as an 889. Whats the 882? Mine has no Idaho stamp, just the SB4. It's green with a black blade.

Sorry didn't mean to threadjack, I'm just curious since it looks almost the same.

The standard 889 was sold in OD Green, Tan, and Black color's. There was also an LE with MP Blade and Ironwood handle. When the Buck/Stirder venture ended these were sold off as a list special for $50 each. At the price these pull in these days on the auction site......I wish I had bought a truck load of them;)
