Strider tarani karambit- Why so expensive?

Got one used on the forums for a great price (far below retail) and I love it. But they want almost 400 new for it? I'm curious why this knife would warrant such an extreme price tag. Even the kydex is pretty crappy, but the knife itself is well done.

Is this a case of paying for the names, or is producing a karambit really difficult enough to charge 400?

Thanks BF.

cause medford got away with it?

It's about two things:
1. Feeling
2. Supply and demand

People want to feel good, plain and simple. For many of us, buying a certain knife (or car, device, clothing, etc) makes us feel good. In the knife world, Strider has a reputation for being overbuilt and whatever. So, people wanting to feel tough and well prepared will be drawn to that brand in order to get their "good feelings." The number of people who NEED a Strider Karambit is like... very few. But it's not about need, it's about want, which is driven by the need for a feeling.

That's where supply and demand comes in. Obviously people want the knives, so Strider is going to charge as much as they can, while still moving their inventory at in acceptable amount of time. It's called Capitalism, and it works. If people didn't want to pay $400 for his knives, they wouldn't. Can't blame people for how they spend their money, and can't blame a company for charging whatever the market will allow.

Not a sexy answer, but it's true.
