strider v. burke rockstar v. emerson = HELP!!!

I was looking for a mini CQC-15 and during the research i found a lot of bad things about Emersons, so I will never look at them again until I read a lot of good things.

Just buy another Strider, can't go wrong.

you can do research and find bad things about any brand knife you care to mention FWIW, you mention strider, there are horrible things all over the 'net about striders owners and more than some about the quality of strider, and the F&F, and how they are over-priced, but like i said i have seen bad about every brand around at one time or another.

most of the cons ya hear about EKI is the liner locks suck (which is no longer the case, there LL's are no worse, or better , than anyone elses LL's since '01 or '02) or the grinds suck (they are different, if ya arent ready to learn how to use and sharpen them vs a std "V" then ya should stick with a std "V", but they cut just fine and once ya get the hang of it are easier to sharpen) but imho the pro's far far outweigh any percieved cons, the handle ergos are second to none, the wave is a great asset, and the designs in general again are imho second to none, they are without a doubt my favorites, customs and productions, imho the CQC12 is the top production folder around, and the '13 isnt far behind, i edc a custom '13 FWIW & i have a few to choose from lol.

anyway, point being, everything ya read on the 'net isnt gospel.

He has a lot of Emersons and almost every blade has a different problem so the quality checking of Emerson is not that great for such expensive blade's.

Strider also had problems with fit and finish but the 3 SNG's i own are all perfect, you have to be lucky i guess or the quality improved the last few years.

there are no problems worth noting with Strider or Emerson. FAR FAR less than any other mid-tech knife company and virtually zero in comparison to any production company. both make and inspect every knife by hand.
i have 24 commanders, 3 CQC 8s and at least one of every other Emerson model. i think i can safely say they're winners. by Strider experience has been "limited" to 2 SnGs, The Dauntless, 3 MVs, 1 MB, 2 DDC Hissatsus, 2 Hideaways, 3 WPs, 1 SLCC, 1 ZM, 2 D9s and a cool DDC lapel dagger. i've handled HUNDREDS more.

ON topic : Look at the TAD gear/Strider Dauntless. its up on the site right now, and i'd put it against the SMF for toughness, and over it in design.

also, i play with maybe a hundred knives a day and i've been most impressed overall with Strider. CRK is a VERY fine product but i think that for SELF DEFENSE, Emersons designs are best all around. this new Dauntless has just DOMINATED my pocket since i got it. i just can't explain how nice it is to carry and how nice a design it is. Patrick at TAD knows his blade craft and Strider knows their Knife Building, so it's all Win!

failing that : CQC-8.

i own and have seen enough EKI's to know they dont have F&F problems, or quality problems, or any other problems other than some dont like the grind and some of the older ones possibly maybe might have had weak LL's, irregardless of what anyone says on youtube.

now sure, they have lemons just like BM, spyderco, or anyone else ya care to name, but they also stand behind the product and have a great customer service dept and waranty and if ya do get a lemon they will take care of it for ya asap.

thru the yrs i have had 8 or maybe 10 different striders, AR's, GB's, SnG's, SmF's, a couple of fixed blades, and exactly one of them had, imho what i would consider to be a fairly flawless finish, note i didnt say perfect, but fairly flawless, every other knife i had had a blem or 2 on it, not that thats bad, SKI just doesnt (or didnt) stress hi-F&F on there stuff. really, if ya look close enough, most any production is gonna have a blem or 2, that doesnt mean they arent perfectly serviceable, they just arent perfect if ya look close enough.

I just finished watching that video and if conjecture was fact, that guy could put Wiki out of business. He should snort a couple more, roll a couple of 'fatties' and turn the camera off, because I ain't buying what he's selling.

I have seen vid after vid, trying to show the failures of just about any brand you can mention. Unfortunately, all too many people see a video review and accept it as gospel.

That was the video I'd mentioned in my earlier post. It's an extremely misleading video. I'm not an Emerson fanboy, but fair is fair. Emerson doesn't deserve this. The guy's just a shameless liar. None of those knives had any real problems... except perhaps the one with the very early lockup. A nine year old knife that he never bothered to send in. That's a minor issue and would be an easy fix if you had the skills to do it yourself. You fell for this guys nonsense because (maybe) you're inexperienced and you don't know what you're watching, and so you don't know you're being lied to. You couldn't point out one other knife in that video that had any real problem. Sticking lockbar? Ridiculous! Too tough to disengage? Yeah right! Funny he even makes a little grunting sound, as if it's really tough for him to move the bar over. Liners of different thicknesses? It's designed that way on some knives. Colors don't match? They're different metals, ti & ss. Please. The guy's sofa-king we tart it. :) and I don't buy what he's selling. You shouldn't either.
