Correction - I received the AR. it is not a loose thumb stud. it rotates. Any constructive ideas.

Is it loose or not? You may want to be more clear. Post some pics or a video. You'd be better off following my initial advice though.

Tear up a DD214 and wedge some of the paper from it in the gap.
