Strip the coating off a blade while leaving the coating under the scales

After you stripped the coating did you do anything to the blade? Maybe sand it or did you just leave it be?

Awesome tip, gonna try it.... Now if I could only make the micarta handles. Gonna cut some hardwood maybe

Do it man. There's a HOW TO around here somewhere on making them too.

Hey look, another one. WOW, this really works. I can't believe it.

gonna search for the how to next..can i ask why leave the coating on under the handles? is it for rust protection or wear? i imagine it would prevent rust on the bare blade, im getting ready to use your method on my BK2...and your 5 looks SUPER

Yeah thanks man. Yep it's for rust prevention. I don't see any point in stripping it all down just to recoat it with something to keep rust out from under the handles. Sorta seems like a snake eating it's tail.

That's smokin..Gonna try that.

I had a question and I thought, why not bump this very helpful thread for the new comers.

To the question, the stripper doesn't harm the Grivory in any way does it?

Erd

EDIT: OOPS! Didn't realize someone already asked this... :o

I used this method when I stripped my BK2.
I liked the idea of not having to worry about rust prevention under the handles.
