Stripped my NMSFNO and Tank Buster

How difficult is it to remove the scales on these puppies? I wouldn't imagine it'd be too easy.

That's the stripper I used on my BWM. Works great but with the full convex of the BWM I ended up doing a lot of hand sanding also. I might try the metal polish idea, I think 1500 grit paper was as far as I went.

1.) I have a BWM too. What does the convex blade have to do with this process?

Also, taking the handle scales off won't be something I could do. (went to a preppy school, never took a shop class and don't understand tools etc.) :o

2.) Could an owner take one of these (in my case a BWM) anywhere to have them taken off and put back on - locally? Like a machine shop or a gunsmith?

They're beauties WILLIAM.M! :)

no, just held on by the flared tubes, in addition to the flare keeping the handle slabs
attached, they also expand against the walls of the hole in the blade tang & handle
scale, very tight fit.

I think that epoxy would be a really bad idea on a hard-use knife, because if you damage
one of the slabs it would be a bear to remove and replace if epoxy was used.

Please start your own post about Handles and how to remove them

This is a post about how to strip coating and what to expect

Sorry to be a bother you are right, just trying to be helpful.
Your knives look great, thanks for the post on stripping them.

have a good one.

Looks great. I have a BWM that has a green blade, and I really want a satin blade so I might go this route. Thanks for the inspiration.
