ive seen others like that.i think at the price piont these are selling at they didnt see a need to make the machining perfect.especially since these are coated blades..

Uncle Malice,

Do you honestly think that Busse (Scrap Yard Knives) or any reputable knife company would weld a knife blade together and pass it off as new, let alone do something like that at all?
And one other question... If you've already contacted the Shop which confirmed that these are only machine marks, how would we here know any different since we didn't make the knife and only have images to ponder over?

Long & short here... Beat it like it owes you money. If you unintentionally break it during use, it is covered.

Have a great day. :)

Fair enough. I guess that's what I needed to know. I didn't want it to fail and then tell me it wasn't covered under warranty because it was stripped or had that mark. As long as it's good to go, I'm happy.

I had one just like that, beat on it, then sold it for what I paid(ETA sry I gave it away my bad). I kinda liked the grungy look :D

The line is a depth indicator that you must stab beyond in order to properly kill a Zombie.

If anything, this has radically turned me away from buying from the company...
hey man, dont sweat it. KH is good helpful people and one of his finest qualities is calling things how he sees em. In this instance I gotta agree your approach came off a little shady but regardless we are a fun loving bunch that would love nothing more then for your return. keep your faith in this forum and esp the company itself bro cuz everyones got everyones back up in thus mutha. Cheers
Dirk

That's just where the tip is welded on......How they make of 511 from left over 411's.......no problem!

LOL

It's funny, I was wondering if that is the SAME stripped 511 being passed around... That tool transition-mark is almost a signature! I'm not sure that my 511 has that under the coating - the longitudinal grooves, yes, but the transition mark... Who DID do the stripping, i wonder. I also wonder if there is ANY other 511 with that unique mark  Could be one-of-a-kind!

And as others typed, that isn't a weld :p But you knew that before you typed. You also knew it wasn't a problem, that the warranty covers the knife regardless, and that you misrepresented yourself. As you can read, folks here value how individuals represent themselves and get upset by deliberate misrepresentation.

You've a great knife there, potentially quite unique - brag about it! (but please don't lie about it)

To be quite and totally honest, if I stripped the coating off one of my Bussekin and saw that, I'd be asking questions too. Not "is it damaged" questions but "why is it that way" questions.

I asked a similar question about a desert tan coated Camp Tramp, never really found out. But it performed very nicely, just didn't look so good.

Looks to me like the CNC machining was coming at it from two directions and that little strip didn't get machined for some reason.

It's silly to think it would be a weld.

And it's pretty weird to come in here and be misleading about things like you have been. Kinda seems like you knew what you were buying and are now fishing for a warranty claim to trade it for a brand new knife.

.... when I first saw these marks (just after the 511 was released a couple of years ago), your theory is EXCATLY what I thought as well.

This thread literally made me LOL, The mods here are really on their game, Maybe its a new experimental heat treat on the tip??? Made that way by a welder??? J/K, I think it looks pretty cool myself, almost like a spanto type grind, you could have a 1 of 1 limited edition Scrapyard knife with differential heat treat, from a welder and spanto grind????:D, I'm just having a little fun here...
