Stripped NMSFNO

But to get to the pretty INFI you must take off quite a bit of dimpled steel and decarb.

Would sandblasting take off the dimples and decarb ? Then you could just use the belt sander for the satin finish.

my stripper did damage my pumpkin G-10 on my SS that I stripped. I left it on for about 10-15 minutes, which was less than the instructions said to leave it on for. It actually turned the outer layer of the scales whitish and you could see the individual flecks of the G-10. It actually made the outer layer of the G-10 flaky and brittle. Next time, I will definitely use it for much less time, and try to tape off the handle scales or something.

I agree with Vic about the need to be able to remove and re-attach the grips to do a good job.....I did my first Busse, a Skinny Ash, and removing the dimples took a lot of work sanding and was very tricky round the handle.

Balance wise on the asthetic aspect I would have liked to keep the spine uniform to the blade albeit this particular knife still feels great in terms of weight balance. There are some interesting threads way back on removing and re-attaching the grips....just need to get the relevant gear now....
