Considering stripping a knife that has scale liners. Ive stripped one other, no liners...was wondering if the stripping agent will damage the liners.

Any input are advise would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Patrick

Citristrip is the least likely to hurt anything but the coat bro. You're good. I used some stuff recently that ate the porcelain in my bathroom sink all up. Canvas micarta handle material was fine afterwards.

I read this as "Stripper Question: Will Citristip damage liver"

and started to respond... but alas...

In any case, I'm sure a stripper will be along shortly to answer the question :D

I know the micarta is G2G..I talking the plastic liners..red/blue/green..between the scale and the tang.

They are g10 as well, if you layered liners with resin in between you get multi color g10. Well after some heat and vacuum

If it's on a Busse knife it's pretty much bullet proof, pretty much, as far as citristrip is concerned

I recently Citri-stripped my BGASH and it did zero harm to the red liners. ;) Edited to add pics. *FYI* the knife was lightly oiled for storage purposes in these shots. The scales and liners are both untouched from the strip job and initial bead blast of the handle. She has been a fun project so far and I think I will end up doing a full BB finish in the end. Cheers!

Thanks, breavis. I didnt know the liners were G-10. I took a dremmel w/ small polishing wheel to a knife w/ G-10 and liners...the liners started to melt w/ the heat of wheel on slowest speed. This is what had me concered..

I have always been under that impression, they make their own g10. When I call and ask what colors there are for liners it's only the colors of g10. ( Orange, black, green, blue, red, tan.) I can't swear to it though

Looks great CNC, thanks for the pics. I thought is was a fattty for a minute..what is the thickness on the CG Ash?

Need to see some full body shots when done.

I have stripped a NMFSH and a TGLB with liners. No damage to them nor the micarta.
I used something similar to citristrip.
