Just a stripper report for those contemplating stripping their blades.

This is what the new orange handle scrap muk looks like under the black coating. As soon as I found out this was 154cm I knew had stripping potential.

Pretty good IMO, has that burned look to it but it is very smooth and consistent. Kinda reminds me of the acid wash everyone is doing now.

My new favorite little tool. The Pauls Hatchet had a black coating on it. Came off easy but not as pretty in its naked form. I will be hand rubbing this one soon and eventually putting on some scales.

PS: I used quickstrip, works like a charm

Read the title and came here looking for something else, lol.
Jk :) , love the look of that Scrap Muk !

:thumbup:the Swamp Muk looks nice, it might look good in satin too. Can't wait to see what the hatchet will look like when your done.:)

Nnoooooo not the hatchet.

Do you have any pic's of it naked?

It already is naked brother.

Well started the hand sanding today and by the looks of it, achieving a nice even satin finish will be pretty darn hard. The PH has lots of tool marks and I recon I will have to hand sand for weeks before I can work them out. Now Im thinking of reaplying a coating or maybe leabing it dirty. I have though about taking it to a grinder but I fear I will have to remove too much metal for my taste. Then theres the issue of getting into all the fun little grooves the PH has. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Ill figure something out.

here is a hand sanded one. i was on my phone when posting before, could not tell you had already stripped it. look's good just like that.

That looks great Oge. Did you do it yourself? Was the steel very pitted underneath the coating? Do you know what the stock mic's in at now?

no i did not sand this one. the finish is not even across the whole surface. as for the infi dimple's, another one i sand blasted. it had then down the length of it. my mic's are at the shop, the tape read's just in between 3/16" and 1/4". still digging the oxide finish it has now.

Well I removed that finish already with hand sanding, just isn't even and has some tooling marks showing. I could leave it like it is but I wanted something a bit more consistent. We'll see. Maybe Ill do a heavy stonewash....???

that is one hell of an idea. never seen a stone washed paul's before. good luck and keep us posted.

Got out of work a bit early so I was able to take it to the grinder on 80 grit. Pretty happy with how it came out. Ill be progressing grits as time opens up.
