ok i think you guys can appreciate this a bit more than others. i have been owrking on ym ranger shiv to make it a nice bushcraft blade. ok so here is my latest development on my shiv. last time i was trying to convex the edge. wel i am good at that now and it is a razor and has a nice polish. for my next upgrade, which i did today, i sanded, NOT STRIPPED, off the black coat and then hand polished it up to 2000 grit. so now the knife looks like a aurora alomost me thinks, but but since i did it myself, it is better. now the next part will be to get out a few final scratches out but ill need to get more sandpaper, and at a lower grit cause this alone took me 3 hours. tell me how you like it.

Good job, but with that title I was expecting something different. Tease

Awe man...Strippers in the W&SS....I was hoping for to see some tactical thongs (not flip flops) and ..... Anyways great blade bro...

I recently aquired a custom shiv and the first thought that came to mind when holding it was "bushcraft." I have not read much from others using the shiv as a bushcraft knife so I'm glad to see you plan to try. I hope it works out for you. I may be able to use mine hiking some this weekend. If so I'll let you know how it works. All of the effort you're putting into making it your own looks pretty good.

It depends what they look like when stripped......see how nice this one turned out !!!:D

Thats why we need strippers:thumbup: Excellent post Pit, might be your best pic yet:D

i concuer, you are once again correct pitdog. strippers, it depends on what they look like. that one i wouldnt say no to. and no siguy. i left the coating under the cord. to protect it. dont need no rust there. and for whatever readson i find 1095 rusts easier for me than 01. weird.

Nice job on the Shiv. I have a custom Shiv and I do use it for bushcraft duties. Good luck trying to get one now though:grumpy:

they are either hollow or flat i believe, predominatly hollow though i could be wrong, its a very common occurance. i do know that the edge is convexed first. but i made the blade flat ground and then i convexed it myself. but like i said, i could be totally wrong.
