Strippin', Fire-in' and drinkin'

Lookin good Phil  Those STrippers have a nice beadblasted finish underneath very similar to my BIBB when I stripped it. Most likely because came from the Zero Tolerance 3/16 blanks that were used to make the STripper (ZTNO) and the BIBB (ZTSH)

Great job, btw what's in the martini glass? Leftover striper with the black coating dissolved.:D

I have only stripped one Miliganzaa AD and it did NOT look that good. NICE work! BestBuy can be asses to deal with BTW.

hehehe....all of the milganza edcs will have dimples. There are only some models that have that beadblasted finish under the coating. The ones that I can quickly remember are ASH1, SFNO, MudRazor, ZTNO, ZTSH, ZTBM.

Good to know! I have a ZTBM with the smooth black coating, but I like the big ones to be coated...

How appropriate that you'd strip the STRipper. Looks awesome.

So in the pic below you have two types of Scotchbrite sanders. I like the looks of the one you used; I've never seen that one. I've always used the flat brownish ones like in the background. How do the results differ? Looks like the wheel one you used leaves some lines in the steel?

What kinds of handle material can safely come into contact with the stripper? Micarta? G10? Res-c?

Stripper doesn't affect Micarta or Res-C, but it will change the color of G-10. Just put some duct tape on it first; it forms to the shapes and hold to it through the stripping real well. If you get it on Black G10 it'll turn it greyish.

Since this is the first time I have done this, I wouldn't know the comparison between the two. The sanding wheels with the scotch-brite material between the paddles was only found online for me. NO local shops had this particular type. I got the medium and fine versions. Most of the pics posted were after the medium. Haven't spent much time with the fine wheels yet, but I think some of the lines will diminish with it. If I want to spend the time, I can probably hand sand it down even further, but the lines don't bother me really...

Got all this info from here:

Cool. Thanks for that link. That fine wheel does get it a lot smoother than the disk. Be sure to post more pics after you take that fine wheel to it.

On a side note, I wore out a flat pad Scotchbrite trying to smooth out INFI dimples, but then found the next time that the black composite plastic Scotchbrite got them out in like 2.5 seconds.
