go to yer auto parts store and get a can of PRO-FORM PF535 paint stripper.

scuff the stock finish on the CS hawk head with 80 grit, and rinse under really hot water. Dry and spray a liberal amount of PF535 onto it. Let it sit for 20 minutes and rinse off under warm running water. You now have a antique looking hawk head, free of that black plastic crap coating it comes with.

finish off the hawk head by running it under HOT water, dry it and while its still hot, oil it with gun oil, Militec, BoeShield T9 etc etc etc.

Thanks for the info..... By the way... does anyone know if the hawk handles are all the same? I see them on ebay, and they say they fit the other models, but don't mention the trail hawk.

i'm gonna say NO, i have had several different handles for my CS frontier hawks and every time the wood is different.....some are pine >:( , some are maple, some are hickary, and one was oak.......)
