Does anyone have this knife,Its inexpensive and Im planning to Fully convex it.Do I strip the coating first or belt sander will take care of it.The knife is very thick so fully convexing it shouldn't be problem.Ill sharpen the clip too.Any input welcome!(I have blue zirconia belts and they should take care of it,its 5160 shouldn't be hard). Also how is edge holding and toughnes of Ontarios 5160 and 1095.

Ontario runs their 5160 a little soft - good toughness, but the edge holding suffers a little. On the other hand, it's pretty easy to sharpen; so that's the trade-off. I have the RD7 and NS9...my only complaint would be the handles; but that's a quick and easy fix, too. (20 minutes with a half round file)

sweet can't wait to check out pics! I wouldn't bother w/ stripping the coating since you will be grinding it off anyway.
