I'd taken the RC4 along....

When I got back I needed some kindling making for the stove so decided to try out the WSK at battoning.....

It worked pretty well through this hard Maple...

I then decided to test it at chopping against my Chopweiler....

This was the result after the same number of chops with each blade. I found the Chopweiler to be a little more accurate but the WSK more comfy to use. As you can see there was not much between them both !

Not bad to say the Chopweiler is a good inch longer. Either blade chops well enough to cut the materials for a shelter etc !!!!

As always, nice pics pitdog.

Out of curiosity, how did the WSK's serrated spine treat your baton? Did the baton get chewed-up during the process?

All the best,

- Mike

The batton seemed to make contact with the humped section just before the serrations and then once it was level with the wood I struck the tip so there were no issues. The serrations are not like saw teeth, they are just designed for notching wood and so are quite flat at the top !

Nice shots. So when you chop with the WSK are you hitting the belly of the blade?

Yeah the sweet spot appears to be from the lowest point of the blade that you can see in the last pic up for about another inch toward the tip if that makes sense !
