So I just got a construction job (constructing and redoing medium sized buildings) and I want to get a good strong folder for my new job, something that will hold a decent edge and I can beat up. Something that wont cost a fortune either because i'll be using it pretty hard. I just bought a Paramilitary 2, but its such a nice and expensive knife that there is no way i'll be using that. I also have a Kershaw blur with 14C28N steel. Not sure if this would be a strong enough blade steel/knife. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would look at the ESEE/BRK collaboration knife, the Zancudo for less than $35.00 shipped. A frame lock with a solid lockup, AUS-8 steel, and tough as nails.

The Ontario RAT 2 is also another low cost, high return tough knife. Both are manufactured in Paul Lin's factory in Taiwan. If you don't know Paul Lin, his manufacturing capabilities and high standards are very well known.

Spyderco Tenacious or use the Paramilitary. Just do not lose it and you will love it, especially the way it performs and its durability. The Benchmade Griptilian is also another great option.

I understand wanting a new knife but the Para2 will still be a great EDC for a construction worker. I work construction between guiding seasons & my knives rarely see abuse unless I'm just pushing them on purpose! If I think I may d!ck up my blade I'll use a regular old Stanley utility knife w/ replaceable blade. I would never use any of my knives to pry with or anything like that. I'll use the proper tool for the job or find something that works... a nail, a screw, a piece of wire, a screw driver, a piece of cutoff steel, whatever! My partner carries a Military and he abuses it regularly. It's mind blowing how fast that thing is degrading! One thing that carrying a nice knife has taught me is improvisation. Stop, take a sec and look around. There are "tools" EVERYWHERE! Life's too short to mess around with cheapo knives.

Home depot Box cutter and many blades, you'll probably use 95+% of the time. Use your Para 2 as a spare of maybe get a used Benchmade Rift($50 on the BAY), tough, good grip knife. I'm currently getting good heavy use from a Contego(M4 ROCKS).

Rat2 that is posted above, very hard to beat $$ return wise.

I got an cold steel american lawman to check out recently. That is a knife that can take beating. Ugly sucker and the lock is stiff, but it has abuse me written all over it.

Come on man! Use that Paramilitary, its just begging for hard use, what are you waiting for, why did you buy it?

if you do use the pm2 don't let it slip out of your pocket or don't leave it laying around, otherwise you can kiss that knife goodbye. :D

use a stanley retractable with replaceable blades instead of a knife. much better suited and you won't have to worry about dulling your blade easily.
