What would you trust your life on, the pinnacle, or the pardue axis, whats stronger and a better fighter??-your opinions.

I personally like the axis I think it has a stronger lock and in dire situations it can be held defensively and opened and closed easily..

These are just my opinions...

Well, i dunno which of the two has the stronger lock, but the axis feels a lot better in my hand. Plus i found that it (the axis) was easier to close. So far the axis lock has proven to be very solid, anyway, the 720 was the one for me. The 720 is a great knife, quite a bit smaller than the 750, though. I would say that its a matter of personal preference, and i doubt that you would ever be able to tell the difference in lock strength. oh, there is also the matter of the great reverse grip on the 720, something to think about. Hope this helps.

i really don't think there's much of a difference in the two as far as those two categories. the pinnacle has a slightly longer blade and a recurved edge, but the 720's handle is a little more rounded and comfortable. i personally like and carry the pinnacle daily. some of that is a dislike for aluminum handles and their finishes.

I have seen a 750 fail the spine whack test, although I have been told it is rare. This knife failed when new, but after testing a few times began to lock tight. I have never seen or heard of any of the axis lock knives failing at all.

As strong as these locks are, this kinda makes this issue a bit moot. IMHO, I think they are both stronger than the average human can defeat.
I'll have to go with the Pinnacle as my choice because my Pardue Axis' handle is a little short for my hand. My pinkie kind of falls off the end of the handle, which sucks in a folder your betting your life on.
In praise of the Pardue, though, I love the blade shape, and the handle is a great shape for a defensive type folder(IMO), but only for someone with smaller hands than mine. I still like it, but it's not my first choice for this app.
Utility use is it's forte in my particular circumstance.

Stronger lock? I would have to side with the 750. I love them both, but I think the 750 has the advantage of a simpler design (better in my dictionary), thus less prone to failures caused by dirt and pocket lints, easier to clean, and fewer parts to break.

I think that the 750 will last longer because of it's simple design[less moving parts. As far as lock strength I think it is a draw.

As said before, beyond a certain point, strength is moot. What I look for is reliability. It is a shame that Benchmade has not followed up with more "monolocks" after their first effort. I guess they are going with what sells.

One thing im wondering about my axis is how long the omega style springs will last. Then again, as soon as one fails im sure ill hear about it. Bladeforums is such a great resource!
