In your opinion, what are the strongest/toughest folders(production or semi-production) with a blade length between 2.75" to 3.00"? Thanks in advance.

Yup. Tough locks on both.

Folders aren't really "tough", however.

small sebenza but as rd has said in a different way folders are not nearly as tough as fixed blades....feverdoc

I have them all and i just purchased for $99.00 a Emerson Mini CQC-7B under 3" just ,and this thing is way built better than any of my benchmades or Spyderco's this thing is a tank and ilove it. tanto blade all black got it at http://www.anklepocket.com/

The recently discontinued series of Pioneer IIs from REKAT. G10 scales, dual steel liners, rollinglock mechanism. A fistful in a small package.

I'll second the vote for the REKAT Pioneer II. That IS one TOUGH folder!.:).

Spyderco Gunting with the Compression lock and those double liners under G-10 has to rank right up there. I've owned one REKAT Pioneer, and seen a few others get heavily abused, and they've held up well.

If I were to chose just one as the strongest ,most proven, extremely comfortable, useful, well accepted
by the general public it would have to be the .....Buck 112 Ranger. All the one hand wonders aside
this little knife will be there when you need it ,be good at the job asked of it and never complain.
I own more knives than I care to admit to and the Buck 112 is the one that is one of the top 5 on
my most carried / use list everyday. The way it fits in the hand is really remarkable. That along
with the well proven Buck lockback design make the great little knife that it is.

If Sal Glasser wasn’t so modest - he would be bragging about it forever.

But the fact remains - the strongest folder in existence- and I include ALL the custom made folders is the Gunting.

The reason is the ingenious lock designed by Master Bram Frank.

The same lock is used in the new Vesuvius by Spyderco - but it is a lighter version - hence it is a little less stout.

There is no really STRONG folder – a strong folder is a fixed blade. But the Gunting comes the closest.

As for liner locks - the Benchmade Emerson is indeed one of the toughest.

I would suggest the Benchmade 705 at 2.9" or the 720 at 3.25".
Both really tough locks.
Cheers,
Gord

Thanks for the replies. I need the blade length to be exactly 3" or under to meet the security regulations at work. I had a Delica II which was a very good knife. Unfortunately, I lost it at a bar. I guess it fell out of my pocket(I didn't have it clipped to the pocket). So now I'm looking for another knife as it's replacement. I just might have to get another Delica II. I want something that's robust...no zytel handles.
