Hey all,
So, my homemade denim strop finally bit the dust yesterday, and I've been meaning to buy a leather one anyway.
So, any recommendations on where to buy one? Also is all green compound the same, or are there higher quality types than others?

Not all compound colors will be the same. Check the grit associated with each color for different brands so you can better compare them.

Poor man's recommendation:

In case of need: Leather belt on the rough side and toothpaste as stropping compound.

Works wonders

I like the strops from Pinewood Forge, along with the White Gold compound that they offer.

Flexxx strops, all the way. I picked up one of his 4-sided numbers and have been happy as a clam with it.

I have a Billy strop by stropman. Love it n it comes with 3 compounds that work well. Excellent quality, my knives have never been sharper. 2 + yrs and looks brand new . Have a look at Stropman dot com & good luck with search

I made my own. Very simple to make. I just bought a squared off table leg at home depot and went across the street to michaels crafts and bought a sheet of leather and it works great. I wanted a 4 sided strop so I could run the gamut of compounds separately. I think I have a total of $20 into mine including the 4 compounds.

I have used, and still do, the Flexxx Strop field and PRO models, and they are great strops.

I have also heard really good things about the knives+ strop block (and it's really inexpensive)

You can also make your own, but starting at $20.00 for the knives+ or Flexxx field strop (pre-loaded) it's almost easier just to buy one.

Knives ship free baby.

Your choice of awesome Bark River compounds. The best.
