I am ordering a strop from flexxx strops. I will be sharpening many different knives but primarily Infi. I am wondering if I should get the strop with or without the sharpening compound seeing as how I will be sharpening my Infi. Stropping is new to me.

Thank you for your time.

With compound for sure --- ideally I'd say go with a 5 micron and 3.5 micron strop block and then order a strop block with 1 micron and .5 micron. If you have the funds --- I'd definitely recommend 2 different blocks (4 sides total).

Thanks Rob. I appreciate it. If you get some time, check out the pocket strop from flexxx strops

I just ordered mine. There are a couple YouTube videos on them as well. I will start a thread with my impressions after I have field tested it. I did ordered it with the compound applied. I think the compound is 3k on one side and 6k on the other.

Ok -- so I just checked it out. It's pretty sweet -- small, discreet, and generally well liked by most --- if I didn't have the Wicked Edge -- is definitely get it. I have it currently set up with 100/200 diamond grit, 400/600 diamond grit, 800/1000 diamond grit, 1200/1600 ceramic grit, 1.4 micron/.6 micron ceramic, 5 micron/3.5 micron balsa strop, and 1 micron/.5 micron balsa strops.

Oh man. I have been looking at that wicked edge for quite some time now. I have to have it in my life. I plan on getting it next year.

I have flex strops and LOVE them! I got mine at usamadeblade! Great people!!!!! I use the larger rudis!

About 1/8 of my edge rolled over on my mean street. I need to find a way to unroll it. I think I may have to find a porcelain rod. Or I can use the top of my window in my car. That's what a friend of mine told me.

I think it's one of the best engineered fixed knife sharpening systems out there. Once you get really good -- the edges become near perfect.

I have flexxx 4 sided strop and I love it , I start with white , usually skip black and go to green then finish on plain leather , it works wonders

I have a few strops, a couple from Flexxx and an unknown. I use black and green compound (in that order) and finish on plain leather. Spent the afternoon yesterday working on a stripped DSSF that just got a fresh new edge... :) Once that was done I spent some time making curly little piles of paper out out phonebook pages... :D

Gotta love this curls. Lol [emoji1]

Been looking for this kind of thread for a long time:thumbup:

Was wondering in which order to use the compound. I've got black, green, and pink compound. A rolled up strop for the field and a 4 sided stropping bat. After much pounding to split wood for the fireplace, I sharpened my NMFBM back to hair popping sharpness.... Took a couple of hours though..... Practice is key, I guess:(;)

^^^ yup. I've got a 20 inch. X 20 inch. Piece of neoprene. I'm looking for a same size cutting board. Some boards come with rubber skid proof pads underneath them.

Stick neoprene to board, pin wet and dry sandpaper on top.... Voila.... I can sharpen my AK47!

Get compound. Much quicker.

I've been using green compound for a decade.

I have to say I LOVE MY BUSSE. but I can't say I love the factory edge. I am going to have to do something about it. It feels sharp but... it doesn't seem sharp. It have a Mean street with the BIG finish.
