Stuart Branson Wakazashi

What Dudley said. The 21" includes the habaki and, I believe, the seppa and guard. I measured the blade at about 18 1/2" from the machi to the tip iirc.

In case it wasn't apparent, this is traditional construction in that it is a takedown with smoked bamboo mekugi pin.

Edit: I guess I have to find a new picture hosting site.

Outstanding work, as always, Stuart. Every detail is superb, but I LOVE the wicker! Makes the whole thing, for me.

On a slightly off-topic note, consider paying for a photo hosting service. Photobucket's move was an absurd one, but the model of 'free hosting' is a tenuous one, at best. Sometimes 'permanence' is worth paying for.

Beautiful,
Wrapping that rattan is a pain. I did a few bamboo flyrod handles with it back in the day.

Lots of soaking, wrapping and hoping it does not break :)

Beautiful. It looks like it belongs in my hand ;) Enjoy the privilege of such a beauty!

That is cool!

Photobucket got so loaded down with ads that it became essentially unusable before they made the change. I swapped to Flikr and, while a little more complicated to post from, it has been worlds better.
